Start of the season I'm 100% with you, to suggest that now is absolute madness though. For all Mowbrays faults, including the fact he's stumbled across this winning formula more by luck than judgement, you have to think that he's the best man to get us over the line, surely?

Not sure about that, but totally sure I don’t want a bloke who wasn’t good enough for PNE, (Neil).

Bruce would be the perfect appointment for them with their squad and in their position. Promotion expert who will be comfortable with those players.

Would think Alex Neill is sat in his Longridge home rubbing his hands!

Going in as Bruce's assistant? Don't envy him that journey everyday... the M6 is an accident waiting to happen.

I know Mowbray is revered by West Brom supporters but I'll be amazed if they make an approach for him. That said nothing in football surprises me.

Nothing certain as we know from Rothwell!

Given where this has come from, stuck £50 on.  TBH, tempted to go bigger.

I bet you are glad that the Bruce story has broken quick enough for more money not to be wasted!

Only probably? And does he get the boot if he manages a remarkable promotion?

Yes

Did Kenny and Souness deserve the boot in 1992 and 2001?

They were managers who quickly turned around rovers fortunes plus they were already proven.  They were trustworthy of keeping rovers in the premiership.  I very much doubt Mowbray could keep rovers up

Kenny and Souness were lucky enough to have one of, if not, the biggest budgets in the second tier -  plus Jack Walker and in Souness’ case, John Williams, to work for. TM’s budget and the set up of today’s club is a million miles off that.

It’s therefore a ridiculous argument (and an example of the corner some on here have painted themselves into) to say he would then deserve to get the boot if he got us up in such circumstances.

Rule number 1 - never ever follow Merce’s betting tips.

Hopefully he can get you a pint at Ewood sometime to compensate.

Hey, now come on be fair - there have been 2 or 3 racing tips that have romped home and made money for some on here who made a flutter!

Others have also made money on managerial appointments I flagged!

Kenny and Souness business was as shrewd as mowbray's.  They didn't spend absolute millions on players.  Souness inherited an underperforming Dunn and jansen and turned them into stars. He also brought in the likes of friedel on a free loaned in berkovic. Spent a few hundred grand on the likes of byornabye. He turned rovers around in less than a season and a half

I can’t see West Brom coming in for Mowbray nor Mowbray leaving.

Wouldn’t be surprised if his agent has touted his name about to get him a nice new deal. He’s seemingly got no particular targets here good bad or indifferent, been backed by the owners in the transfer market and allowed to operate at a £20 million loss a season, one of the highest paid managers in the championship and has his mate as the boss, a fairly apathetic fan base and his own personal a cult following here. He’s not getting that peculiar package anywhere else.

Although in the strange world of rovers in the first season he’s looking like overachieving he eventually goes. West Brom are clearly a team who want promotion ASAP do they even have time for a Tony journey.

I think Mowbray has been far too comfortable here to walk away now into the instant pressure that would come with going back to WBA.

He’s an indoor cat now he couldn’t survive in the wild.

Come off it. This present team is largely a combination of loanees and academy grads.

Souness had a team of internationals and pros with promotions under their belt and/or years of PL experience.

TM gets this squad up and it would be a monumental achievement, and it’s amazing the mental gymnastics some folk are going through to avoid holding their hands up.

Understand Mowbray's departure to WBA is 90% certain.

Stuck £50 on at 10/1.

Brilliant 😂😂 @Mercer the biggest troll on BRFCS. I used to bite regularly but now I just laugh. He’s the best at what he does. Never fails to reel in a big one!

I’d be worried if tony got the wba gig.

not for what he could do there but who he would try and take with him. Bucko, ash Phillips , etc

let’s hope the next job tony gets is at a team less attractive than us (from a wages, recruitment pov) .

I always thought he would end up at Blackpool after us , don’t know why 🤷🏼‍♂️
