Every Rovers player on twitter probably has that tweet pinned ready to use again. Standard club issue tweet i think. I think you're absolutely right about that type of thing rubbing off on players though. They aren't stupid they pick up on things that's a large part of a reason why managers run out of steam after a few years and basically a new voice is needed with a different attitude. I don't think it's delusion with our lot more the shoulder shrugging excuse making nature of the main man. Edited November 13, 2019 by tomphil Quote

Norbert Rassragr Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 Tony won't have that much pressure as his mates are with him, the owners are absent and useless and a sizeable chunk of the fan base are ok with losing to Leeds or West Brom as they are chasing promotion. To add to Tomphil's point about attitudes rubbing off onto players, it's why Ferguson was so good as he was so driven to win and wanted trophies. Roy Keane is the same, but he's an absolute fruit cake so he is not subtle and nuanced when needed. Quote

Norbert Rassragr Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 I wouldn't. Sure he's the opposite of Tony but he's been rubbish apart from that season or two at Sunderland before he took them back down. He's mental. 4 Quote

Even if I don't agree with everything he says, at least he's outspoken and opinionated, unlike all the dullards on BBC who are stealing a living. Quote
tomphil Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 (edited) There's nothing wrong with having a manager who you suspect might grab you by the throat or offer you out onto the car park if you're acting up. What guys like Kean need are a really good coach and backroom staff around them to provide that buffer zone between manager and players. To reel them in a bit when needed and cover any weak points coaching wise they might have, the jobs for the boys mentality has cost a few managers their jobs imo. Along with this snowflake culture which is ruining everything not just football. Edited November 13, 2019 by tomphil Quote
Norbert Rassragr Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 Keane might offer the coaches a fight if they disagree with him as well. He is a sledgehammer to crack a nut type of man. As for snowflake culture, the biggest snowflakes are over 40 years of age but that's a whole different thread and not related to football let alone Mowbray. Quote

simongarnerisgod Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 harry chapman will never get picked by mowbray,he could score 3 hat tricks in a row, toast full backs everyhere and play like he`s damian duff the 2nd,i guarantee he would`nt get picked because he has`nt got a defensive bone in his body 1 Quote

Amo Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 Anyone would think he's still in short trousers, the way Mowbray talks about him. He's 22 years old. At the very least he should be on the bench as an impact sub. 3 Quote

TM doesn't do normal! Normal wouldn't be dropping your top scorer and player of the year from the previous season in favour of somebody who has hit the back of the net, in the last 18 months, less than Derek Williams. Normal wouldn't be saying quite passionately that defenders are coming and then spunk the money on more attacking players. Normal wouldn't be Blackburn Rovers under the Venkys!! 1 Quote
simongarnerisgod Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 the most frustrating aspect of the mowbray tenure is the fact we are defensively inept but very good going forwards,so what does tony do??he has us playing defensively, trying to nullify the oppostion,i really can`t understand it,we might as well go on the offensive, granted we`ll concede goals, but we`re doing that now without scoring,i honestly think we`ve got the nucleus of a decent side,it just needs someone to come in with a complete new mindset, who knows,we might even get manager who thinks playing with two strikers is`nt a mortal sin 3 Quote
JHRover Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 We knew from Chapman's loan spell in League One 2 things: 1) Mowbray had no intention of starting Chapman in games, even at that level never mind in the Championship 2) Chapman was an is made of glass which will always restrict his contribution on the pitch. So it comes as absolutely no surprise to see what has happened. Staggering that Mowbray would hand him a multi year deal if he didn't think he was up to it. Quote
Wegerleswiggle Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 Well if there was ever a game to start Harry and see where he's at it's the Barnsley one. Stick him down the right and give him license to run riot. Quote
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted November 13, 2019 Moderation Lead Posted November 13, 2019 Mowbray will never give anyone licence to run riot, so we might as well put that one to bed. If they do even try to run riot, they’ll be dropped. 1 Quote

So he'll have to impress in order to get a chance in the team. Yes Tony, because the first 11 are doing so brilliantly. 18th place in the Championship reflects what in-form footballers we've had playing in the team recently. Imagine being a player being told you're not good enough for that shower. I don't need to imagine what he says at half time, if it's anything like his comments in the press it will be demoralising and nonsensical. 14 Quote
Popular Post booth Posted November 13, 2019 Popular Post Posted November 13, 2019 "I really like Harry Chapman, that’s the reason he’s here. The seriousness of football is something that he has to know." Says the man who gambled away pretty much all our transfer budget, two years running on players with no track record of scoring goals when we needed a defence. Any chance you could start knowing the seriousness of football Tony? Maybe lead by example? 18 Quote
tomphil Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 (edited) I'll say it again Samuel was straight back in the squad the min he was fit and he got some mins and probably will again soon. Yet Chapman who Mowbray made such a fuss of getting here and who's been playing U23s regularly and getting a few goals and assists doesn't get a snifter. Yet again something not right about this and is it any surprise if he's having an attitude issue ? Give him a go, lets have a bit of carrot and stick and if he doesn't take his chance or is still playing up then off to lge 1 or 2 he goes for a bit. I presume he didn't cost much and isn't on big wages although you never know with this lot but if so he should be quite easy to shift. Stop carrying dead wood because we are too nice or too soft to make these type of decisions. Edited November 13, 2019 by tomphil 3 Quote
