matt83 Posted May 9, 2021 Posted May 9, 2021 I think regardless of what people have heard on the rumour mill if he’s still in charge this time next week it’s time to abandon all hope of him leaving. If the club are smart they would simultaneously sack him and release season tickets details on the same day. Might get a spike in interest before the next underwhelming appointment. Quote

I can imagine the conversation around the chicken chokers' barbecue; Balaji "Ye know we still have that loss making branch in the UK" Venkatash, "Oh shit, I'd been hoping I just dreamed that... so go on, when you say loss making, what are you really saying?". Balaji, "£200 million at last count, and since taking it over, the only thing we've won is....erm, er...we got the Lancashire Telegraph award for Lemon Drizzle cake for the last 4 years, since we took on an ex resident of Brockhall from the old days as manager - he talks shite, but his missus is a beast with a Kenwood". Madame Desai, "Whhhaaaatttt? No fooking frruuitcake?" Balaji, "oh yes, ma'am, plenty of fruit cake, we've even got one in as chief executive." Madame Desai, "Well, I guess I can live with that, since our beloved football child cannot be relegate from the bladdy Premiere League. How is Ronaldo doing there? Did you say £20 million a year? That cant be, I said we would lavish at least £5mill a year on them to keep them at the top of the tree." Balaji, "Pass the fruitcake, ma'am" Edited May 9, 2021 by WIR Second Coming 1 Quote

Crimpshrine Posted May 9, 2021 Posted May 9, 2021 If Mowbray has a zoom meeting with India he will be reminding them that the 'journey' was reset to the beginning this season due to a really exciting change in style of play. He will need at least another 2 or 3 years to achieve the team's new identity - but don't worry the profit from Armstrong's sale will really help things along and Dack will be back before we know it. India will probably swallow it. Only half joking! Quote

It's in England FFS, I spent a working lifetime thousands of miles from home earning the corn so he has NO sympathy from me. If it's so far he is then actually inflicting harm on to all his Boro signings? I think not. Man's a compulsive BS merchant and liar and makes me puke. Edited May 10, 2021 by AllRoverAsia 2 Quote

What annoys me most about allowing Mowbray spinning his living away from home yarn is a bloke 10 miles down the M65 does exactly the same and shows no ill affect. I worked away from home for nearly 5 years, didn't like it so changed jobs. I'm more than happy to discuss with Tony about the benefits of moving jobs closer to home! 1 Quote

JHRover Posted May 10, 2021 Posted May 10, 2021 if you live in Blackburn and work in Manchester it can take 90 minutes+ to get there in rush hour or if you rely on public transport. Mowbray is incredibly lucky having a job that pays very well, can car share with his cronies and he's his own boss. The journey from Teesside to Brockhall is a nice ride and time it right it isnt a busy route or difficult. Other than his beloved Middlesbrough no other Championship club is as convenient to reach from where he lives. He's worked in Glasgow, Ipswich and the Midlands. A nightmare in comparison. He just can't help himself with the family guy hard working line. He knows it touches home with the Desai clan. It really is that easy to keep your job. 3 Quote

To be fair the snippet I heard was as long ago as mid April when we were in the midst of the death spiral and everyone was calling for Mowbray's immediate sacking. The information seemed quite definite and was to the effect that he would be leaving at the end of the season. It seems Paul Mani heard similar from a different source so it's perhaps too early to describe it as wrong. If it doesn't happen, fine, fire away. Quote

This is the problem Rev, the way some people on here react to snippets being passed on doesn't exactly encourage posters to share any info or even gossip. It all gets a bit snidey at times. For what its worth I still trust my source who told me that the plan around Feb/March time was to part company with TM at the end of the season, then it seemed to change to a more imminent parting of the ways in April, then something happened to put Plan A back on the table, which my source reckons is still going to happen. I am making the assumption that they had someone lined up to take over but it didn't work out. This fella wouldn't simply make these things up, he's not an attention seeker, WUM, or anything like that at all and he doesn't have a track record of getting things wrong. The next week or so will tell us, I suppose, whether any of this has any substance. 12 Quote

To be honest Rev we are this point in our history because our owners can't hack how to run a football club. They have been here ten years and still haven't a clue how football works or how a football club is run. If the manager remains it's because the owners are happy with him to remain. When they are not they will appoint another who will operate within the boundaries that they set. Since relegation from the Premier League we have had a variety of managers and none have been able to get us anywhere near the play-offs - something that Don Mackay was able to do on next to no budget whilst Bob Saxton had us at the top end with no money. The common dominator with regard to ten years of failure remains the owners. Sadly, Blackburn Rovers are just another example of how football has evolved over the past twenty years or so. So many clubs are now just one part of a portfolio of billionaires who operate on a global stage. The football that I first grew in love with sixty years ago has gone forever at the professional level. I suspect Accrington Stanley is the closest I can get to it in this area.
