Ulrich Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 A 3 or so year deal may actually be tempting to him, as who knows what will happen at Rovers. However it could also be used a leverage to force the owners to give him a new deal. Quote

pedrob2014 Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 I know it wouldn't take much to change the odds but has come in from 50/1 to 8/1 in a couple of hours Quote

tomphil Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 As i predicted hot on the heels of the few newspaper articles the other week we now have a club suddenly allegedly after him. Not a hint of anyone wanting the genius in the last 5 years. If he signs off with a good finish this season then goes down there that might be the best for everyone. He'll do nowt at Ipswich without a big budget. 1 Quote

JHRover Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 I went on the Ipswich forum at lunchtime to see what they had to say about this. I have to say I find it fascinating the difference of opinion and how highly they regard him. To me I wouldn't be bothered if he went although to be honest it would sum up what a shambles this club is if it were to happen at this juncture. Yet the Ipswich lot seem almost giddy with excitement. Salivating at the mere prospect of it. Bizarre really. I know he was popular there as a player yet his managerial career hardly sets pulses racing. We are on a good run and doing well but take away the last month or so and we have been much of a muchness in the Championship for the last 3 years. A popular name in the betting there is Neil Harris who got Millwall out of League One, kept them in the Championship and did an Ok job at Cardiff yet they are lukewarm as to his credentials yet Mowbray who got us out of League One (with a lot better squad), kept us in the Championship is seen as an incredible appointment. lraC Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 Kean has shortened over the last hour or so. God help them. Quote

It shouldn't do really, but they're in such a desperate state I can see why. Club that size who have spent (relative) megabucks in that league and in their third season they're as close to the relegation spots than the play offs. Then there's Mowbray, a former player with a recent record of getting out of that league at the first attempt, buying a player like Dack for the same sort of fee they've been paying, playing reasonably attacking football and currently sitting 4th in the division above. Obviously that's ignoring the long list of negatives that come with TM as manager - but I think if you were to offer our last five years or so to Ipswich fans (or Sunderland fans) they'd be throwing street parties. 1 Quote
bazza Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 Lots of people full of glee at the prospect of Mowbray going to Ipswich. Who will Rovers replace him with? Paul Cook? Mick McCarthy? Alex Neil? You don't appreciate what you've got til it's gone. (Is that from Yellow Taxi?) 2 Quote
Tugay-is-God Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 Madness that some on here would be so keen to get rid of the manager as we sit 4th in the table. Do people really think that TM going now would benefit our season? Quote

Yellow Taxi is maybe more to do with Ewood Park or Brockhall than Mowbray: 'Don't it always seem to go That you don't know what you got 'til it's gone They paved paradise and put up a parking lot' 3 Quote
matt83 Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 This Mowbray to Ipswich is probably nothing more than his agent putting his name out there to get another contract here. Mowbray won’t leave rovers. Will more than likely be on more money here than Ipswich, there’s no pressure on doing well at rovers from the owners to boardroom to the terraces, he’s got a strange fanatical cult following here. Right now is as good as it’ll ever get for the rest of his managerial career (not that it’ll last) and he knows it. 2 Quote
Backroom DE. Posted December 9, 2021 Backroom Posted December 9, 2021 As far as Ipswich is concerned, this is the same fanbase that hounded Mick McCarthy out of their club and have been deluding themselves into thinking it was the right thing to do ever since despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Managerial judgement isn't really their strong suit. Quote
tomphil Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 Yep McCarthy had about 25% of their fanbase on his case all the way through they just never took to his style. Perils of being a percentage based manager i suppose but i remember reading their forums and it made TM critics look tame. 1 Quote
RoverDom Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 Imagine if TM left whilst he was doing the best he's ever done. That would be the ultimate shithousery. Stay during in the death spirals and leave when we've found some form Quote

If we got a good manager to finish the job I would take it 1 Quote
