Tough match away at one of the promotion favourites.

We're still very weak at the back but hopefully Tosin and Cunningham can turn out to be good signings.

Presuming all are fit I'd go.....

Walton

Nyambe    Lenihan      Tosin       Cunningham

Downing     Johnson     Travis     Rothwell

Dack

Graham

I think he likes Bennett in the side because his energy sets the work rate and tempo for the other players.

What about his lack of footballing ability and inability to stop a good left winger despite his energy, blah blah....?

He infantilises these players. Hart is nearly 23, he does it with Rothwell who turns 25 in a few months. Nyambe another, who is 21, so fairly young, but has over 100 appearances.

These are not ‘young boys’ and should not be treat as such, obviously does it so they are easy to sideline, but can’t help their development.

Yeah you're spot on there

Meanwhile 16 year olds have played in the champions league ?‍♂️

Lenihan and Nyambe is out of the team along with Mulgrew who has gone to Wigan.

looks like we will start:

Bennett, Tosin, Williams, Cunningham

at the back.

One game into the season and we have just 2 fit centre backs. Not due to an injury crisis but due to managerial incompetence.

Tbf, that’s better than last weeks defensive line up.

We get rid of one CB on loan, fail to bring one in, and our best one gets injured/ill. You couldn’t make it up.

Exceptional world class ones have, yes. Incidentally so too has Tosin, who is the only CB Mowbray signed this window so he clearly expects big things from him despite his youth.

But that doesn't fit the narrative...

Huge blow. Lenihan is now perhaps our most important player. We have cover in other areas of the team, but not in defence.

We will have to go with a three man backline?!? Bell-Tosin-Nyambe? Not sure we have a choice.

This is presuming Williams isn't fit enough to start.

Bet it will really hurt Tony having to play the new lads today.

We could do with an early goal to help with confidence and knock theirs.

Bennett at right back who, IMO, is hopeless, two new lads who haven't played with us before and Williams who can't be fit.

We will need the footballing gods with us today.

Not holding out much hope today or in the next month of fixtures. Defence was that Achilles heel of last season and not convinced much has been done about it. With no lenihan then it’s a very makeshift back 4.

The Charlton goals were classic rovers. An unchallenged cross which found a man either unmarked or untracked. Then a header off a corner unchallenged. I suspect more of the same.
