I'll be interested to hear TM's full take on this in the press conference on Friday. Surely someone will press him on it?

Expand

I'm not it'll be a fifteen min waffle that'll contradict everything he said previously, also Dacks injury will get ten mentions.

My guess is Mulgrew has asked Rovers to cut his loan deal short because he or his agent believe there is a concrete offer from elsewhere , whether that's MLS Oz Dubai wherever and Rovers are happy to comply as its saves them X% of his wages we are currently covering ...

... .. By the way are there any managerial vacancies in Scotland ?? He always struck me as the type that would fancy acrack at management

That's a best case scenario here

Rhodes- no. We don’t create. Luxury player which we don’t have foundations for

mulgrew- mls or oz although does still have a house in Kirkintilloch but I can’t see him matching money in Scotland

An Ewood pay off would help that considerably.

Its an odd move all round if he doesn't have a moved lined up. Maybe back up to Scotland, maybe on a free.

Mowbray won't play him and i don't see why he would cut his loan short when he was getting games at Wigan.

Think people are being a bit harsh on a guy who has been a great servant to this club

That said, my view is that if Mulgrew was to play for us again it would be defensive midfield alongside Travis rather than Central defence. With Evans out for the forseeable it only leaves Johnson as partner to Travis as Davenport is unlikely to be risked.

Whatever it seems now that defensive replacements will have to wait till Summer and this window concentrate on attackers

Expand

If he was capable in DM he would have been played there by now in the same way that those are calling for him to play LB. He doesnt really have the physical presence for midfield anymore and certainly not enough mobility to make up for the lack thereof.

Realise I could get hammered for this...

Bony is still without a club training at Newport, Le Havre were linked with him last I saw but were struggling to meet his wages.

Cant be that demanding in his position surely? Would be worth a punt IMO...

Nope just ignored lol

Set pieces are the only thing he has left, and did he even notch from a free kick at Wigan?

Expand

From what I read on their forums they didn't have him on set pieces.

I don't believe that Mulgrew was able to just ask to be sent back to Rovers. Not sure the player has much say in it once an agreement is reached.

We've paid City £1million for Tosin, he couldn't just say 'oh by the way I want to go back to City'

Still scouting in Portugal it seems.

They're just old blokes on their jollies. Not real scouts. Not real options for us. Not a single piece of actual news about incoming players in this entire thread. I'm going to come back in a week & see if anything has changed. Not holding my breath.

You'd have to be an odd kind of manager not to use Mulgrew for most of those.

Do you think he'll mention John Sheridan's 1991 goal?

Never said keep clean sheets every game. But I want at least 6 or 7 beforr end of the season..

Play the way I said in 4-4-2 formation and we score goals.

Dyche did it at Burnley..

Expand

Yes but he's a very good manager. That's the point many of us are making. Doesn't matter what formation you would like----the manager first has to agree, then put the best 11 players in their best positions, while signing players to fill the gaps eg wingers. and they have to be the right players.

Do you really see this happening?

Now dack is gone what about mulgrew as a pirlo like midfielder playing behind two centre mids and keeping 1 upfront?

Pirlo, Mulgrew, I can see the similarities ?

Lmao that's ridiculous. No way they have a better taker. So they signed a free kick taking specialist who is a defensive liability and didn't give him the free kicks but did play him quite frequently in defence.

And I thought we did things backwards. (Yes I know, we do)

My uneducated guess is that he is looking after his own personal brand. He is not getting into a team with 23 points and looking at a relegation dogfight v mid table relatively solid position with our injury prone defenders. He has a better chance to maintain his value with us.

He also recognizes we need goals which he can do. Maybe he pulled a strop with Mowbray early in the season and lost the argument. Whatever it is, if he is fit and protected from errors he could be an asset in the second half of the season.

Sending Chapman on loan? At a time when we need some attacking flair that would be rather stupid.

Surely he's not one of the top earners either. Actually maybe he is, probably got a massive appearance fee in his contract too hence why he has barely played to save pennies ?

Maybe that would be another 'stupid nail' in the apparently inept lean management approach that has been adopted at Ewood in recent years. I mean, who buys a racehorse just to keep the stables full, and then says it can't race because feeding it would cost too much.

Unbelievable..  except at Venky'sville under the careful supervision of sem crafty conniving crooks.

Ooh did I say sem? Course I meant 'some'...or semthing like that...

I guess Chapman's future will be decide by who we sign in this window.
