If it is a loan, I hope it is someone on the fringes of a club that cannot break into the first team for whatever reason rather than some 18-year old kid. We are a very young side anyway and have plenty of our own talent coming through. We should do something similar like when we got Reed in - a player that is hungry to kick on his career. Perhaps even a loan with a view to buy.

Ya and you said it's easy to sign plenty of "cheap low risk players" who would contribute. I have asked you to name 1

Meanwhile, 2 have since been named....

Not hindsight. Gallagher was no great shakes the first time he was here. The fact we forked out £5m to get him back was barmy.

It wasn't just that. I wasn't massively impressed by his time here either but he was worse at Big Club by all accounts. Add to that he then spent a year treading water back at Southampton. He just wasn't progressing. I really couldn't see that for that sort of money we didn't have better options out there

My final guess/prediction is...

Danny Rose joins Newcastle, Matt Ritchie been playing left back recently, Ritchie is now free to join the mighty Rovers...

Boom!!!!!!!

Going to be a lot of disappointed folk on here tomorrow. Some of the mooted names on here have given me a good laugh at least.

Easy in hindsight.

I meant name one we could sign now

Everything is easy in hindsight to be fair, and you can't just change the question because you don't like the answers.

Now that would be some coup.

He went get over the promotion line...slip of a kid who looks ok with top quality around him. Not convinced he's what we need

Has anyone mentioned him yet?

Lets just say that if Antonio chooses Rovers over the clubs wanting him i give all credit to Mowbray. Thats a hard one.

The issue with these loan-signings (and its been a lot of possibilities) is that other managers are a lot more cynical than Mowbray. A man of his word, and I can respect that, but it doesnt give you much when you negotiate.

With Rothwell out for a month and no dack it will be an absolute joke if we don’t bring in an attacker.

Ofc we won’t do anyways. I have no faith in the way TM conducts his transfer buisness.

Difficult to be overly surprised or overly sympathetic. Weve left things until the last minute, and have no money because we spent it on the 5m striker that will inevitably continue to ineffectively plod up the touchline on Saturday.

Finlay has it about right.

Like TM keeps saying I usually need to calm the owners down when they want to splash the cash ....

The Recruiting department is still building so meanwhile we sit with a begging bowl and hope X or Y get knocked out of the FA cup ...

Elliot and Jones are young pups !
Here’s hoping jRC gets his long overdue chance ..

And will be until end of the season, that was the arrangement with Brighton , were never going to break that. New keeper being looked at for summer, I don’t think walton will be brought back

Unbelievable.

So our view on Walton (and rightly so) is that he's not good enough to be our long term keeper but for some unknown reason we don't feel any need to send him back early this season.

Are we deliberately trying to sabotage the rest of the campaign then?

Speculate to accumulate. This will be the second season in a row where we've had a sniff of the play-offs and just gone 'meh' in January.

It's a definite statement of mediocrity.

Had to change username because of a few people on here.

Take it or leave it. Ive been told, plain and simple, that the loan from the prem club is done. Most likely to be annunced today - the only "issue" is the  size of the payments paid from Rovers if he not plays a certain amount of games. Mowbray is firm on this and makes things difficult but my guy said the deal is 100% and therefore not a issue of the size "deal or no deal" - just a issue that needs to be sorted before making it official.

No names but judging by the games ive seen and i supposed the average football-fan, this is a good one. Surprising but good one.

With all due respect, if the Club's can't agree the penalty clauses if said player doesn't play enough games and Mowbray isn't willing to budge then how can the deal be sorted?

Also it's somewhat concerning that this is an issue at all. If it was a player who was coming in to go straight into the side then we could agree to any penalty clauses we wanted as it would never become relevant.

Sounds like someone who quite possibly won't be playing therefore another potentially pointless signing like Chapman.
