I was a big fan of Nyambe, for a teenager he looked to have the lot.

However there is no doubt for me that he’s regressed as a full back. Now you could well blame TM for that as he was unceremoniously dropped back end of last season when he was no worse than the rest of the defence, but currently I wouldn’t be starting him as he seems to be bereft of confidence.

I agree, I don't think this is entirely Ryan's fault, I think TM showed a lack of confidence in him, but there's just too many examples of Nyambe playing badly at RB to make me think, yeah I'm glad he's viewed as a centre-back now.

If you truly think midfielders have easier passing options you're mental. Defenders always have great pass accuracy stats and success rates because their passes are so simple.

Here's some examples of Ryan Nyambe's superior defending:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSqKDlWf3a8 - from 00:05 to 00:15 and then 00:21 to 00:30 (please also see 01:22 to 01:28)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mzzu8bC2OH4 - from 00:04 to 00:16
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhW7Z_51ttk - from 00:24 to 00:34
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IF-BuZxEjJA - from 01:38 to 01:47
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCQb2a75-xA&t=46s - from 01:41 to 01:50
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yut-A683wnc - from 00:36 to 00:50 and 02:32 to 02:44
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7CUw-OGl2g - from 01:08 to 01:21 (although this is an example of our poor defending in general and also Amari'i Bell!)

I'm not going to spend all day scouring the web, but your point about EB being beaten more times than RN is odd. There's no statistical evidence to back up that claim in any way. I've tried to provide some visual above to disprove.

Please refrain from the personal jibes like 'mental' as it just shows your age or lack of.

They do have far more options - hence Lowe always being top of the OPTA stats despite being a very limited footballer. Also, we are not talking 'defenders' per se, We are talking FB's - CBs also have more options for a pass than FB's.

I do not need to see your highlight reel either, seen them all before just as I have seen the countless times Benno gets skinned on a weekly basis. If I had the time i could quite easily put together one for Benno too.

As for your last paragraph, there probably is statistical evidence out there for that. There are stats for everything these days. Just showing a few clips of Nyambe getting beat without conversely doing the same for Benno is once again very one-sided from you and in no way disproves anything.

Can we have less of the first bit in bold please, Joe?

Thanks.

Passing up the touchline isn't so simple and that's what full backs have to do more than any other player. I remember watching that Simon Grayson playing right back for us and he must have put every bloody pass into touch ! What a waste of space he was.

Jeez, if I could be bothered, I'd put together a 'Bennett's brilliant defending reel' twice the size of that.

Strange one this signing. I can see why we have snapped him up because players of this quality don't come around every day, but I don't think Mowbray has the first clue what to do with him, and I would put my mortgage on him being shunted out wide when he finally does get to start.

I think Holtby might well prove to be the difference between mid-table and play offs. If we can find a system that integrates Dack, Holtby and Travis then I feel really positive about the rest of the season.

At this moment in time Dack starting on the bench would be the start of a good system

That’s what happened yesterday isn’t it?

Both he and Rothwell our wide and then criticised for going inside rather than trying to get crosses over to... Dack and Armstrong. (5’9 and 5’8 respectively - and up against 6’3 Leistner and 6’2 Barbet). Mowbray regularly talks about pinging balls in but doesn’t have a header of the ball in the squad!

So ping them in low then. You are allowed to do that. Not every cross has to be head high. How many times have you seen a ball driven hard across the edge of the six yard box create havoc and a few own goals ?

Zero from rovers, we dont do crosses. We do sideways and backwards.

Fair points. If we want wing play, better but wingers. Or maybe play Chapman. I expect he hasn't met some stat or other in training yet. The kind of stat that kept Jason Lowe as a first team starter for years, and keeps Rothwell on the bench.

Isn't that basically Gallaghers sole contribution to date? Winning like 5 headers per game (maybe just in a game, to be fair)

Best thing to do, stick him wide right so he can cross the ball to........himself? ?‍♂️

I can’t remember Gallagher making an effective header. I’d say he is poor at them.

Fair enough.

So he's got nothing then.

I don’t think he has nothing but I’m struggling to think what his strengths are.

We seem to struggle for strikers with pace, strength, and an eye for goal. It’s one or none.

We struggle for centre defenders with strength and first to the ball heading ability as well.

Funny how other clubs manage to recruit some of these types back and front but in years and with millions in fees and thousands per week on wages BRFC  can't.
