gumboots Posted November 1, 2019 Posted November 1, 2019 Very true. Also someone who watches a lot of rugby nowadays Quote
Husky Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 Damned this is sloppy. It's like 2007 so far. Quote
47er Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 Looking like we played our final last week? 1 Quote

SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 South Africa repelling everthing we throw at them...only one winner here. Quote
Husky Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 It's all over now. South Africa's first ever World Cup Final try. That bounce though. Lucky ****s! ? Quote
RTM08 Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 Game over now. England have been dreadful and barely deserve the points they have on the board. Well played SA, came in with a gameplan (however dire it is to watch) and England have nothing to offer in return. Quote
matt83 Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 Gutted. They beat us in all the key areas - defence, attack, set pieces. Such a shame as this could have been the best England world cup ever. Daly was v questionable at 15. Nowell on the wing, Watson at 15 for me. Oh well. Faf is such an irritating little shit. But highly effective. He dictated the tempo and it pissed us off. Even his hair irritates me. So England lost, gbl lost vs New Zealand. Step forward Rovers... Quote
philipl Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 England made so many mistakes but South Africa dominated in all aspects and every phase of the game. Could easily have lost by a lot more than 20. Delighted for my South African friends and great to see that magnificent beautiful country get a positive boost like this. 1 Quote
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 (edited) Mm, a game to forget I'm afraid. We looked very nervous right from the off and losing Sinckler in the first tackle was a blow. Having said that we never got to grips with their old fashioned style of scrum and line out dominance followed by a kick based rugby. I'm not sure I'd want to watch that every week, they nearly won today without scoring a try. Incidentally I thought there were two little forward passes in their first try but they don't bother about things like little forward passes in Rugby Union. I don't think the ref did us any favours either to be honest, George Ford got clattered off the ball at one point and nothing happened. No real complaints though, we were a poor second today. Well done South Africa. Edited November 2, 2019 by Tyrone Shoelaces Quote
gumboots Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 It was youth v experience and experience won in the end. Most of our lads will still be there next time and some the time after that and they'll have this defeat to look back on and spur them on. Delighted for de Klerk and cant wait to see him back at Sale but gutted that England couldn't get going and give them more of a game. I think Sinklers going off so early took so much away from our scrum and just knocked us back a bit where we needed to be on the front foot. A different early start might have made a difference. Yeah, I like De Klerk. He's what a scrum half should be like. Having said that anybody can play there when you're playing behind a dominant pack. Quote
gumboots Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 He plays differently for Sale. More passing game. Quote

I was amazed that they didn't think the video confirmed It. Wouldn't have made any difference though. The comparison between the first 2 minutes of the semi-final against NZ and this game could not have been more stark. We were on the back-foot from the very beginning. Never really got going did we? No, we looked nervous right from the off, especially when Sinckler had to go off. Several wild passes early on when calm heads were required. I thought the ref gave us nothing and the Welsh ref would have been a better bet. Having said that the best team won. Quote
