Bit rich coming on a Rovers forum to slag off your Edinburgh rivals. Repugnant to you maybe but thats to be expected as a Hearts 2013 fan. In my mind whats repugnant is a Football Club that folds over night without paying local businesses like the grocer and butcher and a face painter and even more disgustingly the Earl Haig fund and the British Legion then rising like a Phoenix the next week with a new company number claiming all debt is with someone else. That is repugnant. The fact that Kean is a snake and his involvement with any club should be viewed with alarm is more important here. Quote

I’ve had a read of this thread, and I’ve read a couple of newspaper articles from down there. I don’t follow English Football, so I was only vaguely aware of what was going on down there with Venkys, Jerome Anderson and SEM. Hands up, I wish nothing but misery and pain on Hibs. Can I ask a couple of questions? Is the issue with Kean, that he comes pre-packed with SEM? All the players coming from that one route? Or is there a more material risk to their ownership and property. Cheers. Difficult to say… Imagine a lowly coach coming into your club, then not long later usurping an entire Premier League management team and the club board, the chairman and club secretary and is running the entire club on a contract he wrote himself which rewarded a pay rise for relegation. And running it into the ground to a point ten years later the club still hasn’t recovered. 10 Quote

Not really sure what he would stand to gain from getting Kean to head up something similar though. Just have to wait and see, I suppose. Guy sounds like an all round bad egg. Quote

Guy sounds like an all round bad egg. As someone else said, he had a reputation as a good coach before he came here. If I were a Hibs fan I'd be terrified especially if the owner was regarded as less then squeaky clean. For us the damage of those 3 seasons (ish) have so far proved irreparable on so many levels. There are some who like to pretend otherwise but that's because they can't face the truth. "We've found our level." Absolute bullshit. The truth is we were comfortable in the Premier League with decent crowds and the best "local" support in the country. Besides the league status we had a sensible chairman and board who were maintaining a reasonable level of debt - much envied by larger and lesser controlled clubs. True we were punching well above our weight but it was made possible by good people. Unfortunately some bad people saw an opportunity to take all that and feather their own nests, no matter the damage to the club. And they had the media in their pockets so the fans looked like the bad guys. Only a handful of people spoke up but they were drowned out by the poor wee Stevey headlines. At Ewood it was like some kind of dystopian nightmare. The crowd had turned angry but to Steve Kean it was like it wasn't happening, like he was in his own bubble. He'd stand there bold as brass with a smile on his face as Kean Out was richocheting from each stand. Bold as brass, defeat after defeat. There was no authority left to remove him. Stewards were actively provoking fans. Because of the anger directed at Steve Kean the club were under orders to treat us all like the enemy. They stopped people being able to bring banners into the ground. A female steward once randomly started arguing with me, I tried to ignore her but she was like a dog with a bone which caused fans behind me to come to by defence - this was during a game. A policeman walked over, I thought that's it I'm out. Instead he told the steward to come away or he'd remove her and to stop inciting the crowd. There was one match where young children were being searched entering the ground. I saw fighting between our own fans and was later told that people had been sent in to the crowd to confront people not supporting the manager (no idea if that's true but it certainly felt like that). Some of those fans will never come back after the way they were treated. We had debts of £20m when Venky's took over in 2010. In 2021 it's £140m. Thanks for everything Steve you wee gem. 12 Quote

Kean has an impressive coaching CV too after spells with the likes of Fulham, Real Sociedad and Coventry as well as working abroad in Australia and Brunei.’ Quote
