Predictably they were met with radio silence. I couldn't claim to know their credentials for running a football club but I'd like to think two local businessmen are less self-interested than the previous lot Venkys have hired. I might well be wrong but I think it was via some investment scheme nonsense, a no funds in place to back it up kind of dream. 1 Quote

They were approached by Balaji in 2011 or 12 on such a basis as Amo stated. They went to India at a similar time as the 'Pune 12'. Suspect that idea was caboshed by the 'spiv' and his cronies and nothing came of it. Makes you think where we'd be if some savvy local business knowledge had had the benefit of the financial backing in recent years. Edited October 27, 2019 by darrenrover Quote
Gone to seed Posted October 28, 2019 Posted October 28, 2019 Latest accounts show us losing £16 million in financial year 17-18, so unless Waggot has a pile of pound coins under the sofa, the absentee owners are putting in more than £1 million per month to keep this shower of shite afloat. Their total financial losses to date are £242 million, according to the documents filed with Companies House. If someone can come up with a formula that allows the Venksters to push off, then great. All I know is that the formula doesn't appear to involve magic Tony's new way of playing football, which is nothing short of shocking. There is light at the end of the tunnel - however, it may well be the torch being wielded by administrators, after the power is turned off at Ewood. Quote

All true except there is a 3rd option rather than Venkys or bust. A new owner prepared to invest. Wigan found one after Whelan. PNE seem to manage to compete without losing £17 million a year. In fact with the exception of Bolton basically every other club has changed hands recently and not gone bust. 1 Quote
pk1875 Posted October 28, 2019 Posted October 28, 2019 THE VENKY EFFECT..... They haven't quite killed the club, but we are in a decade long coma with life support keeping us technically alive. All ambitions have been dumbed down to accept and be grateful for mid to lower championship mediocrity and "stability". The writing was on the wall years ago but the nay sayers simply said "Support the boys". 6 Quote

Owners putting more than a million a month in to keeping us afloat, yet if you look through the forums there`s a fair few fans winging about paying higher prices for a pint or a pie, I`m not a great fan of the Venksters but they seem to be doing their part. Aye, but the real question is WHY? What is actually in it for the Venkys? It doesn't make business sense, and there is no way on god's earth that they are doing it out of love for the beautiful game or the name / reputation of Blackburn Rovers. 4 Quote

Yes mate they certainly have done their part, destroying the soul of the club, the fanbase , the playing squad, the management, the board, the match day atmosphere........the feckin lot. Well done venkys. Great post mate 15 Quote
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted October 29, 2019 Posted October 29, 2019 What a way to throw some 250 Million down the drain. Why in God's name would you not want the very best people in charge of the Club to look after your Investment and get the very best results? 10 years on and nothing still makes sense,no answers forthcoming. 5 Quote

tomphil Posted November 16, 2019 Posted November 16, 2019 (edited) Howard Gayle, proper cult Rovers hero ! As for the strategy he is right but it has to be based on making the right decisions on and off the pitch and kicking on a bit every season. Not constant mix and match in a vain attempt to find the right formula. There should be one in place and players recruited for that and other youngsters fitted into it if they are the right style. Otherwise it's pointless floundering that gets you nowhere except further down the league every season and losing fans faith and attendance. 'Build' is the right word but it has to be on the park as well as off it ! You sometimes get the impressions under this ownership and this current management that the 9-5 Mon - Fri behind the scenes workplace is more important than getting what is available in the 95+ mins once or twice per week ! Vinjay Posted November 16, 2019 Posted November 16, 2019 Might as well put this here (since the Brockhall thread I replied to was deleted) on the subject of covenants at Brockhall. There's been talk of course before about Brockhall being sold, etc. I remember saying that developer Gerald Hitman's son had clearly taken over from him at Brockhall Village, etc based on companies house info. Well he's been dead for a couple of years so it might be worth looking up who's in the key positions there now. Quote
AshleyClifford Posted November 17, 2019 Posted November 17, 2019 The latest accounts are from our season in league 1. We are now a lot closer to break even. We had to get out of league 1 and did to great expense. Since promotion a loss has been made but primarily due to transfer activity. Quote
broadsword Posted November 17, 2019 Posted November 17, 2019 Went to the ground today for the first time in ages. And I mean ages. When the hell did it get so dirty? It's bloody disgusting 4 Quote

At the last consultation meeting the issue of maintenance came up. Waggott basically said it cost too much to do it too often, and mentioned a multi year plan. Quote
tomphil Posted November 17, 2019 Posted November 17, 2019 (edited) It costs too much to hire someone with a pressure washer ? ? When you are paying footballers 5 to 25 grand a week then no Steve it fooking doesn't. Inept ! Edited November 17, 2019 by tomphil 1 Quote
Mattyblue Posted November 17, 2019 Posted November 17, 2019 I’ve said this before but I used to go to the gym built into the away end at Deepdale. I lost count of the times I saw workmen around the ground jet washing, touching up the surfaces with fresh paint etc. 1 Quote
tomphil Posted November 17, 2019 Posted November 17, 2019 There'll be no thinking outside the box involved they'll just want to use a specialist firm to deep clean all of it in one summer. That'll involve an astronomical quote no doubt. So it'll get shelved until they get the go ahead and the longer it's left the worse it'll be and the more it'll cost. Like the austerity of the Govt and the potholes in the roads. Quote
