Supporters Consultation Meeting

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know the date for the next Supporters Consultation Meeting ?

Last year it was 22 Nov so normally it should be announced now, seeking attendees and agenda.

Josh , who is attending from BRFCS ?

Can we start a process of getting serious questions from members ? e.g. PM to you or whatever.

Finance and Governance of OUR club....

not listening to Mowbray talk about being a lad kicking a lump of coal about.

January. Very clever.

”Tony, I thought you said defenders were coming?”

”Oh, We nearly got Bauer, but never mind, just you wait til the end of this month. There’s money to spend. The owners are very supportive”

Plenty of people will absolutely lap this up. Anything other than blind acceptance of this will be spun to be negative, impatient and unrealistic.

When we line up against Middlesbrough on the first of February with a back four containing Bennett, Lenihan, Williams and either Adarabioyo, Nyambe or Bell, and fluke a 0-0, all we will hear is how anyone who thought we needed new defenders rather than the 3 midfielders we will inevitably bring in is an idiot.

Two games (and about 5 goals conceded) further down the line the argument will be along the lines of “Well, who could we have got? We tried our best to get Bauer in the Summer!”. This will continue until Downing is firmly entrenched at left back, where his continued inclusion will be justified come May when he provides the assist as Ben Brereton opens his account for the season against Luton... “I love his versatility, that’s what Stewart Downing brings at full back”.

The purpose of these meetings, directed by the FA, is for fans to be able to directly question owners, representatives and board members as to their running and management of the club.

Sending Mowbray is not what these meetings are for.

The manager has been a useful buffer thus far at these meetings. Nice fella, real football man who’s tales can disarm potential tough questioning.

However, we’ve always been in decent form when they’ve come around before, bottom 3 and it’s a different issue...

I think they'll be preparing a dossier full of excuses for him by then it's obvious his PR team keep a look out on social media and brief him or he does it himself.

It'll be we went for x.y.z defenders but wages, didn't want to move, someone bigger pipped us will be the reasons. There's nothing to back it up either way so loads will swallow it.

The real evidence is 12 million spent on BB & SG in 12 months one who'll no doubt be on big wages even if it isn't the number banded about. Then Downing an alleged one year deal probably somewhere near the 30k pwk he was on at Boro, the Johnson who'll be another good earner. Why did he come in and look the part only to turn to shite and maybe be asked to do things he wasn't used to doing and now he's out the running. Why in gods name identify and sign him if you want him to play differently than what his style is at 32/33 yrs old ???

Then the alleged 1 million pound loan fee for a kid from City, why hasn't some of all the above gone into recruiting some experienced centre halves ?  Oh and keeper, the things that were promised wholeheartedly by the manager himself and the very things missing for most of his tenure and helped get us relegated last time.  Why does he have such a make do and mend approach to defence.

And why does he appear to have such a lax attitude now to the whole thing ?  He can't just keep trading on 'iv'e been in football a long time iv'e seen it all before'.  So have a lot of fans and we know when we are literally going around in circles Tony, you can fool some some of the time but....

What was the ambition of the club before this season started?
Have we achieved that ambition?
If not, how does the club suppose we can achieve that ambition?

You could go back 8 years, ask those three questions every single time, get the same answers, and we'd still be where we are. These meetings never provide real change.

I guess this is a good opportunity to ask some searching questions but the last couple of meetings have been derailed by Tony Mowbray telling tales of working class life in 1970s Middlebrough. I enjoy listening to Mowbray but it's not really the point of these meetings.

Perhaps people sending in the questions could try and be very specific with the wording so they require a simple answer and can't be avoided by waffle.

I'd like to know if the plan to avoid the threat FFP was to sell Dack in January. If not then what is the plan?

Can any supporter just turn up on 6th February or is it by official invitation?

Invites are sent to various supporter groups and they have to respond with the names of those attending and any questions they wish to submit. BRFCS are one of those groups.
