alcd Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 Resigning Downing is sensible in view of the ongoing (and probably neverending) Covid absences as well as the underwhelming performances of Evans, Buckley and Davenport. Quote

bazza Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 This time last year we were suggesting Downing was heading for Player of the Season. I'm glad to see him back. Regards to bringing "old" Boro players how's about Ravanelli and Mendieta? 2 Quote

You’d still be the same if we were top of the premier league and in the champions league final, never anything positive to say ? Quote

bigbrandjohn Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 C’mon guys, if we tonk Boro it will be sex and drugs and rock n’roll again. I need to get through Tuesday night over here as well. Could be like Darlington on a Thursday night on steroids. Quote
LDRover Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 Downing was a very good footballer but unless he is cover for LB I don't see how he fits into a 4-3-3. I'm with those that think his legs have gone I'm afraid and a short passing high intensity style will pass him by in midfield. Quote

This stinks of Mowbray not for the first time doing a mate a favour. There's no evidence that he's lost his legs or that Downing didn't want to come here as a first choice. It's complete guesswork and that's all I'm saying, nothing more, nothing less. Quote

Claiming something completely unknown, such as somebodies intentions or backroom dealings we cannot know 100% for sure, but adding IMO at the end is worth calling out in my opinion, and not what the point of the board is... Joe, you work in player stats, if you have those for Downing's km per game early and late in the season that will rebuff the argument. I'd certainly be interested in seeing them even though it's his sharpness that concerns me more. Quote

That’s fair enough, Mowbray will be under big pressure if we lose tomorrow’s game and that would be warranted, but some of the things you’ve said about some of our players recently have been bizarre to say the least and not fair at all. We didn’t sign Whiteman, just let it go man ? Quote
