Couldn’t agree more- he should be nowhere near the club. Just look at the mistake below. I’ll be blunt though- Walton is just as bad for mistakes.
The question is- why haven’t we got a proper, experienced ex-professional goalkeeping the coach? It’s simply unacceptable in my eyes.

Based on both goals the players look to have completely given up. The lack of effort to get back and put a tackle in for both spoke volumes.

What struck me most about today was not the individual errors all through the team all game long; it was the general lack of desire to improve. Most just strolled around, content to see out another week on Easy St. This is why Gallagher gets credit even though he is such an awful striker. At least he tries.

Actually, what struck me most was the superior bite and increased jam per donut to a Birmingham Morrisons donut compared to our store. The football was so appalling it fell a distant second.

The Player Ratings are in:

Leutwiler 2 - Jeez Louise! Stinks like cheese. Did reasonably okay on crosses and punches though looked a bit shaky at times. Went down like Paul Robinson on horse tranquillisers for the first goal (hardly a long range rocket) and we all know about the 2nd which was as bad as anything I've seen. Ultimately lost the game.

Bennett 4 (sub off 39) - Nothing special from Captain fantastic, hardly noticed any difference after he went off.

Williams 4 (sub on 39) - Derrick is Derrick and gave a normal Derrick like performance. I have no idea what was going on at the end. He ended up more in a left back position diving in  as the Brum player ghosted past him before laying it off to Bela to pass back to (and through) The Canadian.

Tosin 5 - What's happened to him? Didn't do anything rash in his own half but he made some appalling passes which we didn't see before his 'injury', the worst being when he ended up on the right wing then passed it across the middle of the pitch straight to a Brum player - setting up a break). Ended up making a half hearted attempt to close down for the first goal. Though in his defence the midfield was appalling.

Lenihan 5  - Okay defensively.Though Brum were so bad he hardly had anything to do.

Bell 4 - Rubbish. We all know he can't defend. Apologies if I missed something with the tactics at the end. But was he supposed to be playing left wing. He certainly wasn't in the left back position as Brum scored the winner from that side.

Armstrong 6 - Was all over the game. Scored the pen of course. Would have had 2 if it wasn't for an appalling refereeing decision. Might have even had a hat-trick but unfortunately he had a starring part in The 3 Stooges and The 3 Yards.

Johnson 4 - Largely anonymous. Proved me right again as a potential defensive liability. Played his part in giving away the opening goal as he just stood and watched Crowley waltz towards him when in the best position to close down.

Downing (sub off 78) 7 - Probably our best player. Put some wicked crosses into the box in the first half though ultimately wasted with Bambi and Bambi's disabled son getting nowhere near them. Bizarrely substituted as he didn't look like he was tiring (as he has done in a few games).

Buckley (sub on 78) 4 - We all know he's too lightweight. Got brushed off the ball far too easily so made any pass to him look like a pass straight back to the opposition)

Rothwell 5 - Not the worst. Looked lively but as we all know he can't shoot and his end product was again severely lacking when needed. Not defensively sound either, though of course that's not what he's there for.

Brereton (sub off 57) 3 - (would have got 1 less, but he didn't give 2 goals away). Like starting with 10 men. No football brain at all - which can help you if you're not gifted in other areas. More than played his part in The 3 Stooges and The 3 Yards which basically summed up his whole time here. Rightly subbed off, though it should have been at half time. Loan him to League 1 now, how long are we going to persist with this nonsense. He is not going to improve at this level.

Chapman (sub on 57) 4 - What's up with him? Still has the pace, but you feel he's suffering from all this not playing/rotation bollocks. Tried to do too much in a bid to impress and most of the time he ran fast and ran the ball out of play. He also looks weak and was easily shouldered off the ball.

Gallagher 5  -  A trier at least (but they used to say the same thing about crap schoolboy players). Had more about him than Brereton and won the penalty. But, hell, his finishing is appalling, he is simply NOT a goal scorer. He missed 4 guilt edged chances - including the 3 Stooges and The 3 Yards scuff. FOUR!!. So his misses ultimately cost the game as much as Leutwiler

Suppose it’s my fault in a way.

2 weeks or so back I was wasted excited for the Wigan game and a chance to get right in the mix.

5 games, 2 draws and 3 losses later here we are.

I should have known better

Anybody else think our pen was harsh ? I've only seen it on TV but it just looks like a " coming together " to me. A pen and a red card for that ?

I didn’t think it was a foul either till I saw the shirt pull on the slo-mo. By no means convinced the ref saw it.

The game was much more entertaining than Wolves v Man Ure. Help!

To tell you the truth I couldn't give a shit about Wolves , Man u. But today we where not up to the standard I expect from Blackburn Rovers.

I just watched the "highlights" on the BBC and came in here to say something similar.

Not just the goals either. There was a point where Rothwell just moved his leg in some half assed manner whilst 2  Birmingham players just one-twoed round him with ease on the edge of the area.

I thought us as an attacking team created alot of chances to score from but defensive wasn't good enough.

But defensive was poor, Why no one didn't close down Crowley quickly no idea, and the same with the second goal. Plus the keeping from Luetwiler was pathetic for second goal.

Thought Armstrong was outstanding today.

I expect today will the last time we see Brereton in Rovers shirt this season.

I agree with Mowbray's comments regarding Gallagher positional in the penalty box.

Leutwiler being given a contract extension was ridiculous. Nowhere near Championship standard and he's all we have to rely on if Walton gets injured or suspended. I'd rather have one of our youngsters on standby in all honesty.

It’s not a good sign at all. We know what some of these players are capable of but nobody is standing out at the minute. This is not a happy camp.

Mowbray singling people out won’t help. He needs to start looking at his own approach. If the players are not doing what he is asking then there is a reason for that and there needs to be clear-the-air talks - and fast!

Since there is no danger of him being sacked it will only be Rovers (and the fans) who suffer.

He's certainly better than the Canadian, although that isn't saying much. New keeper desperately needed but unlikely to come as we're now pleading poverty despite having thrown £5m away on Gallagher in the summer and Mowbray insisting he'd be able to ask for January funds in September. But I guess FFP just snuck up on us between now and then. Crafty.

Ah well. It could have been worse.

We could have been drawn away against Burnley.

I wouldn’t trust Mowbray to motivate his side for even that one.

Yeah, we could have paid £40 million for Joelinton like Newcastle did. I'd rather have Gallagher ! I believe some Geordie fans were giving him some grief has he made his way to the team coach after the game.

He was brought in for one reason and one reason only. It was actually a shrewd move and allowed Mowbray to take rest games and, combined with a rotation policy. However, it worked at that level - because everyone in the squad was top end League One quality.

Sadiy, not a lot has changed. Leutwiler is still here but the reason for that is no longer valid. We still have a substandard number two, not pushing our number one and both coached via a laptop. Our rotation policy continues (when Mowbray can find excuses to do so) but doesn’t work because we don’t have a squad of players that is top end Championship quality. We are still relying on half a League One standard squad and have downgraded one of last season’s worst defensive/goalkeeping units.
