For me Walton - ? Had basically nothing to do. I guess 7? A couple of routine saves. Nyambe - 8 - skinned the opposing full back over and over and over again. Final ball a bit poor. Defensively majestic. Bell - 7 - decent outlet down the left, but average end product. Defended well. Lenihan - 8 - Physically dominated the defence and scored a goal. Tosin - 8 - defensively solid. Picked sensational passes through the middle. His role in the first goal was equally daft and brilliant Travis - 8 - Physically dominated midfield. Also showed good passing, and constantly can make himself a yard. Essentially scored a goal. His technical quality seems to improve game on game. I think destined for the Premier League. Downing - 9 - total and utter superb use of the ball. Great assist for Lenihans goal. Gallagher - 8 - best game for us capped by an excellent goal. Totally dominated his full back. Mowbray justified to play him right. Holtby - 8 - like Dack quite quiet but scored two well taken goals. Seems to have a similar "fox in the box" instinct to Dack. Plus similar quality on the ball. Looks a perfect replacement. Rothwell - 7 - had a couple of good runs, but struggled to make an impression. Silly yellow card. Feel really hes another number 10 like Holtby and Dack and will always struggle wide.... Armstrong - 9 - the guys magic. Will always create chances and score goals. I think will potentially turn into a 20 goal striker next season. Kind of reminds me of Josh King. JRC - 8 - looks decent, setup Gallagher, and much more physically ready than Buckley. If I was Rothwell I might be a bit worried. Whole Wednesday team - 0 - maybe the worst ever showing by a supposedly decent home side in my time following Rovers? I mean unbelievably bad. They let us play exactly how we wanted. So take the ratings with a pinch of salt. Edited January 18, 2020 by joey_big_nose 11 Quote

joey_big_nose Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 (edited) Also - on today's game you'd say probably 7/8 of the Rovers starting XI really should be in the playoffs. Edited January 18, 2020 by joey_big_nose 1 Quote

bigbrandjohn Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 (edited) Let’s be honest if you are looking at this result with no Dack and Graham, goals for Holtby and Gallagher, 5-0 away from home against a play off team. It feels like unexpected sex.???? Edited January 18, 2020 by bigbrandjohn 4 Quote

Popular Post Tugay-is-God Posted January 18, 2020 Popular Post Posted January 18, 2020 Another stand out performance from Arma. He really has come on leaps and bounds in the last month, really repaying the faith TM has put in him all season. 12 Quote

stinny1 Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 Not to much wrong with today i still don't like Gallagher on the wing and if Nyambe stays fit i would say he be in the top 3 right backs in the league . Young lads where very good today and need more game time. Evans and Bennett Williams are getting under there feet and stopping there development . We've got some talented kids still think a left back and a keeper and right wing would help. And Armstrong and Downing where brilliant i hope TM sticks to this team and stops messing 3 Quote
bazza Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 Maybe Tony did his homework as usual and got our tactics right against them. If so, expect him to chop and change the team to face QPR. Let's hope he gets it right again. Quote
Tugay's Right Foot Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 Best feeling for a Long time. What a game by Nyambe and Travis I thought, besides Arma and Downing. Tosin was so good on the ball but there were some mistakes here and there. not sure what’s with giving 3 minutes or so to Big Ben but I thought he did decent in chasing the ball and started the move for Gally’s goal at the end. Bigdoggsteel Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 Bit of a feeling of a season defining game there. If we can just push on against QPR now. They are paying well too,so not going to easy. 1 Quote
Wegerleswiggle Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 I feel like I should be complaining about team selection, dodgy substitutions, lack of desire and how we are going nowhere!!! But praise the lord... We finally gave someone a spanking!! Every player put in a real shift today. Special credit to Nyambe, Downing and Armstrong in my opinion they were outstanding. Wembleeeeee here we come!!! 1 Quote
Exiled_Rover Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 Travis has turned into a right little diving shit. Never a red card in a million years. 3 Quote

Preston should have had up to 3 against us. Karma. If teams are going to insist on kicking us around and the refs are gonna play along maybe it's time to start diving. Even though I despise it. Honestly I wouldn't have called it a dive when I saw it though, just a 50-50 that he got to first. Looked like it probably hurt but not the Weds player's fault. Travis was the one who had to stretch to get it, so the Weds player had every right to go in for it. Tbh I thought it'd be a kiss of death as we usually fuck up against ten men. 1 Quote

I don’t think he did anything wrong tbh. He didn’t ask for the red card, there was contact with his shin. Ref was the one giving the card with no pressure. Throughout the match, the Owls men were having a go at him, I thought he did very well 5 Quote

Thankfully it isn't our call. The ref appeared to be right up with play, and indicated it was a dangerous and deliberate foul by the Wednesday lad - in my experience your first instinct as a ref tends to be correct. Anyway, Travis certainly milked it for all he was worth, and didn't seem unduly bothered by the 'injury' for the rest of his time on the field. 1 Quote

Darwen Rover 007 Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 Did Downing play CDM with Travis? And if so I think this could be a critical opportunity for us, to have a good ball playing CDM that opens up the play? Also how did Gallagher play? Quote
