arbitro Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 Delighted with the win, less so with the performance. I thought our passing was sloppy and we just invited pressure for the last twenty minutes which could well have cost us. I don't know if it's been mentioned but I thought we looked tired with three players cramping up towards the end. After four days away in Portugal and effectively a mid season break that was disappointing. We will just take the points and move on. Quote

G Somerset Rover Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 (edited) If anything this surely shows Mowbray (and the purse string holders) that we need a couple impact squad players this week as a minimum (ideally a couple starters). We can’t be bringing on Bennett at half time if we have aspirations of an outside playoff push. Edited January 28, 2020 by Gavlar Somerset Rover! 1 Quote
roversfan99 Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 The quality of the game for much of it was typical of a mid table Championship game, pretty hard to watch. Quote

Rothwell very good first half and end product there that we crave. Travis is a right bell end in a good way, making a meal out of fouls and being an irritant. Our Ben Pearson is a fair shout. Downing not his usual self on the ball. Holtby neat and tidy. Gallagher dismal again. Playing wide never works although even when he went central he should have scored his chance. Bell very poor again, amazed people were impressed, never seen a player kick the ball out of play so much unnecessarily, a mixture of lack of technique and awareness, whether its for a corner, a throw in or a goal kick. He also went AWOL on a few occasions in a way Nyambe doesnt. Bennett a very strange sub too, did nothing. Agree about Bennett, but not Bell; been decent in last 3 or 4 imo. But Nyambe, Lenihan and Tosin are as good as any in this league imo. Quote
Fraserkirky Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 Not only did Bennett do nothing, he could barely move. What am I missing with this guy, never rated him. 2 Quote

Tbh, you haven’t got a clue if cancelling the red button didn’t improve things. How do you know they haven’t sold 1500 tickets since that announcement? More importantly, second lowest crowd of the season the game after we won 5-0 away. Embarrassing. 1 Quote

chaddyrovers Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 Great goal by Armstrong. Good header by Lenihan. Thought Travis, Nyambe and Bell were good. Good to see Rankin Costello come on. 4 points of playoffs..17 games to go. Not pleased with the change of formation to 2 up front cost we just were awful. Didn't cost us tho. Get in a couple of signings and we can make playoffs Quote
simongarnerisgod Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 what was with the rothwell sub, genuinely injured??,though he looked ok to me or mysterious knock, which usually manifests when tony gets bennett withdrawal symptoms, rothwell was having a fine game tbh 1 Quote

Paul Mani Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 Very good performance overall. Fluent and attacking in the first half. Lost that fluency in the second half but dug in and managed the game perfectly. Limited a decent QPR to just one chance in the game. Tosin, Travis, Arma, Nyambe and Rothwell were fantastic. The rest were decent (7’s) apart from Benno who for some reason looked like he’d played 5 games in 3 days. I’ve never seen him look so shattered. 6 Quote

Nah, fans should be embarrassed that they can’t turn up with their team coming off the back of a 5-0 away win. Even the flakey ones! ? 3 Quote

Admiral Nelsen Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 I'll choose to see the last 20 minutes as us learning how to see how out a game, rather than let it take away from what was a very good opening hour against a decent team. Quick point on Bell, tonight was a microcosm of where he's at with his Rovers career. Most of the game looked like there's a reasonable player in there, but too many times where he is far too loose. Genuinely conflicted about offering a new deal. Anyway, great three points. COYR. 4 Quote
simongarnerisgod Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 travis was excellent tonight,so was lenihan, armstrong disappeared in the 2nd half unfortunately,it still makes me foam with anger seeing nyambe running up and down the wing with no outlet but to play it back, imagine the carnage if nyambe was backed up with a genuine wide player,he was fantastic as well tonight 1 Quote
1864roverite Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 No matter which way you look at it three points are in the bag. Yes it was painful at times but you need a grit and determination to win these type of games remember we have lost many points over the past few seasons in similar games. There’s a bit of steel in the team at last and you can only beat what’s in front of you. We move in together 7 Quote

Hope it was precautionary and his injury isn't too serious. Would be a shame for him to have a spell on the sidelines after finally getting going tonight. His best performance all round this season. A real shame about the injury he picked up let's hope it's not too serious. JRC looks physically ready for the first 11 unlike buckley and probably should've come on for rothwell. In other news Holtby I thought was quiet, and I'm still not a fan of gallagher out wide. 1 Quote
Backroom Tom Posted January 28, 2020 Backroom Posted January 28, 2020 On Travis Thought he was actually poor in his passing, put us under the cosh 3-4 times and got Lenihan booked but he was marvellous in his work ethic and riling up the opposition. Time and time again won the ball but then lost it again but even when it wasn’t coming off his impact for us is brilliant 3 Quote

Darwen Rover 007 Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 Gallagher and Bennett were both pants! Bell is capable only as a back up LB. Thought Lenihan and Armstrong were our best two players today. Agreed that JRC should have replaced Rothwell and not Mowbrays love child! 2 Quote
