Tony Parkes blue and white army Thanks for the sentiment but I cant take the credit for it; I merely shared this from a Facebook post I saw. I really it hope it happens. This guy really is Mr. Blackburn and its heartbreaking to see what this awful disease is doing to him Quote
Tugay's Right Foot Posted February 4, 2020 Posted February 4, 2020 Thanks for putting this up. Hope someone at the club lets Venkys know and they do it sharpish Quote
JHRover Posted February 4, 2020 Posted February 4, 2020 There's no reason why this can't be done or alternatively a statue or bust putting somewhere to commemorate Parkes' contribution to the club. The Riverside isn't sponsored by anyone although they did do that odd thing and remove the RFS signs and replace them with Venkys earlier this season. Remember the spell when someone upstairs decided to rename the Blackburn and Darwen Ends after Clayton and Douglas. Fitting tributes which were done well with big signs and murals of them up. Be nice if similar could be done across the front of the Riverside. I always wanted us to use the top of the Riverside to mark each of our trophies but this is probably more appropriate. 3 Quote
windymiller7 Posted February 4, 2020 Posted February 4, 2020 Signed. Great idea for a great man! Quote

Two birds with one stone etc 3 Quote
Proudtobeblue&white Posted February 4, 2020 Posted February 4, 2020 Done and tweeted. Excellent idea. Loons won't have a clue. I hope someone informs them. 1 Quote
AJW Posted February 4, 2020 Posted February 4, 2020 Not one single Rovers fan would disagree with this ..... I just hope there's a Rovers fan at the club with the power to do it though? 2 Quote

Inglorious basturk Posted February 5, 2020 Posted February 5, 2020 I used to speak to Tony a lot due to someone we both knew who is no longer with us , it’s been a while now and a horrible shame that I’m reminded of this by seeing him in decline 1 Quote
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted February 5, 2020 Posted February 5, 2020 (edited) Signed...would also like to see a benefit match arranged to raise money for his on going care.Let's see the Club,Fans and ex Players step up to the plate. It's the least we could do as a Rovers community. Edited February 5, 2020 by SIMON GARNERS 194 3 Quote

If he doesn't want to rename the Riverside then commission a statue or gateway outside the ground. That requires effort/money so I won't expect that to happen. Quote

That's all. Club.. I have suggested a match in Tony Parkes between us and Blackpool plus I signed the petition to rename the Riverside stand to Tony Parkes stand 1 Quote
tomphil Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 A benefit match next pre season would be a good idea if they could get a side to come for nowt. Won't be many on but a tenner a ticket if they got 5k on it all helps. Quote
chaddyrovers Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 Great reception from Rovers fans towards Tony Parkes today 1 Quote
Backroom Tom Posted April 10, 2022 Backroom Posted April 10, 2022 Over 2 years since Steve’s promise of something, his own daughter has said he’d love it but do it whilst he’s still with us and before he sadly declines further Feel we missed a huge opportunity not announcing it yesterday Come on Swag do something 1 Quote
tomphil Posted April 10, 2022 Posted April 10, 2022 They've sold sponsorship of that stand in the past so maybe that's the problem or of course the chances of them shutting it first chance they get and letting it rust away. They really should be doing something though whilst he might still be able to acknowledge it in his own way. Quote
