Popular Post Tyrone Shoelaces Posted December 14, 2020 Popular Post Posted December 14, 2020 With us not being able to get out to Spain for over a year I was really concerned about getting our Clio through the ITV ( Spanish MOT )over there. It was due this Xmas and I couldn't see a way of getting out there any time soon. The ITV isn't like the MOT in that you can't just take your car to your local handy back street mechanic. There are state run centres scattered about Spain and you must take your vehicle there. Our nearest centre is 50 minutes drive away. You have to make an appointment, turn up bang on time, drive your car into the centre where they clip a loudspeaker onto your car and give you instructions, in Spanish of course. You drive from station to station on command and everything is checked. There are guys in pits waiting for you to drive over the pit etc. It all takes about 20 minutes. It all runs like clockwork but it's pretty unforgiving. One year we put our car in our local garage for a pre ITV, just to make sure. Everything was checked or so we thought. When we had the official test nobody had checked the centre seat belt in the back ( we'd only ever had four in the car previously ) and it wouldn't latch ! So we were failed. Then it's get a new seat belt anchor, that had to come from Madrid , get the stamped document that says it was changed by a registed seat belt specialist ! Then book another test, drive back to the test centre, wait to be seen. The inspector guy just looks at the document and passed us. He never even tried the seat belt. all the while you're only able to drive the car between home-garage-ITV test centre. It's a bloody nightmare. One good thing - when you pass you get a coloured sticker that you must put in your windscreen that tells everybody that you have passed the test and when your next test is due Earlier on today I got a text from our Spanish friend who garages our car when we're in England. The text was just a photo of our car with a brand new ITV sticker in the windscreen ! He'd taken the car to the ITV centre without being asked and got it through the test for us. Whoopee doo. What a great guy. 13 Quote

gumboots Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 So pleased for you, Mike. Was going to ask yesterday because I knew he was due around Christmas but didn't want to put my foot in it if anything wasnt quite right. Itll be a hard few months ahead but will be so worth it. I should know - I have 4, 2 planned, one half planned and one out of the blue that we still dont understand! My grandma always used to say ' Babies bring their own love with them' and she was right. You think you've no more to give and then they look at you and you're overwhelmed with love. Enjoy being a daddy! And get that Rovers sleepsuit on him as soon as you can 1 Quote
Backroom Silas Posted January 5, 2021 Backroom Posted January 5, 2021 Congrats Mike. Some good news in 2021 at last. Enjoy paternity leave. Give you time to get through Cobra Kai 3 right. Quote

Gav Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 (edited) A mate for mine dabbles in crypto currency, for those who aren't familiar with crypto, its like the modern take on stocks and shares, but can be very dodgy as its not really regulated, fortunes are won, lost and robbed in some cases. He's been buying and selling crypto coins for years and is a member of several forums like this one, but for people who are interested in crypto, you have no idea who you're talking to, they could be anyone. He got talking to a chap about 12 months ago, an American who was based in Mexico, the guy was down on his luck and was looking for bus fare back to San Diego to move back in with his parents and start a new crypto platform and coin, yes it is that easy to do. My mate sent this guy $75 for the bus fare and bought him a domain name for his new coin website (Internet address) and didn't think much more about it. They continued to chat and the lad was talking about his new venture, well in December he contacted my mate and gave him 100,000 coins in preparation for the launch last week, to thank him for $75 he was desperate for. The coin launched and the 100,000 coins value came in at just under £10,000! It just goes to show, sometimes you are rewarded for being kind and considerate. Edited January 30, 2021 by Gav 5 Quote

Mother and baby in good health. Hopefully the 6th generation of the darrenrover Rovers following family! He’s rather happy and so he should be! 7 Quote

I too trade in Bitcoin and the returns at the moment are amazing although I agree it is high risk. It eclipses by far from what you get betting on footy or horses. The current price for 1 Bitcoin is £36,000 as of a few minutes ago! So I’m wondering what crypto coins your friend has got?! He’ll be able to buy out Venky’s; own the club, relay the pitch and dish out free season tickets if he’s got Bitcoin! Quote

DeeCee Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 I've been given 3 months notice of redundancy, no that's not the good news as I've only three years in wth them but... I pay the mortgage off in 2 months. Little wins 👍 3 Quote

Was on furlough from May to August, then got an email from my then manager asking for a meeting with her and HR the next day, where they broke the news! Quote
