Haha no doubt there was.

I thought he was amazing for Rovers and how he played the game is something a lot of modern day keepers are lacking imo. I was very fortunate to meet him before a USA game several years ago; extremely nice guy!

Brilliant goalkeeper. Some of the saves he made were jaw droppingly good. He seemed to have it in for Arsenal especially. A couple of times he played them on his own !

My Dad was in the Merchant Navy & was away at sea the time of the final so couldn't go. I always used to send him a weekly email with Rovers results & a bit of a report from myself (Comms in the middle of the Atlantic weren't what they are today & ship-to-shore comms were extremely expensive). I remember the opening line of my report:

"Well Dad, you've heard of the Matthews Final, that was the Friedel Final!"

An absolute legend is Brad.
