We’d been starved of football for what seemed like an age. Eventually the day dawned and we actually saw a game of football. It was a sunny Saturday afternoon after all the ice, snow and gloom. My abiding memory is of both teams giving Fred Pickering a guard of honour as he came into the pitch, he’d got married earlier that day ! My other memory is of more Man Utd generosity. Later in the second half Rovers were attacked the Blackburn End and the attack broke down. Harry Gregg in the Utd goal got the ball and threw it out to Albert Quixall in the Utd midfield. At that moment Fred Pickering was bent down tying up a loose boot lace. Quixall dithered on the ball a bit and then turned and passed the ball back to Gregg. At that moment Fred stood up, the ball went straight to him. As good as a pass as we used to say. Fred just swivelled onto the ball and banged it straight into the back of the net ! I was stood right behind the goals at the Blackburn end and I had a great view of the cock up. Shades of todays “ playing out from the back “ Edited January 10 by Tyrone Shoelaces 4 Quote
Gav Posted January 11 Posted January 11 (edited) This is a great picture of away fans arriving in Barnsley 1980's and waiting to be escorted by police to Oakwell. No idea who it is, but I’m sure it’s an experience we’ve all endured hundreds of times: Edited January 11 by Gav 2 Quote

simongarnerisgod Posted January 26 Posted January 26 i always felt sorry for mackay,he was a very good manager but no big name player would sign for him, suddenly dalglish turned up and they all wanted to be here incidentally,i`ve never liked lineker for his comments and attitude ,1st dissing brian clough when forest tried to sign him when as he was leaving barcelona and for his even more disrespectul comments about us before he ****** off to japan, total ********* 3 Quote
Gav Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Football goes in cycles, normal service will be resumed at some point, mark my words. 2 Quote
Mattyblue Posted January 29 Posted January 29 That lot will fall sooner or later, no question. They just need to mess up whilst they still have parachutes. The issue is this club, we will never again reach our potential whilst we have owners that have no interest in the club achieving anything on the pitch whatsoever, yet won’t ever sell it. So, the ‘cycle’ may well still be a long away away from turning Quote
Herbie6590 Posted February 1 Author Posted February 1 It’s time for some #1995Nostalgia as it’s 30 years ago today that we took in Leeds Utd at Ewood in a rearranged fixture that would be memorable for Flowers, Mimms & Shearer especially…⚪️🔵 Quote
