G Somerset Rover Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 (edited) #Rovers XI: Walton, Nyambe, Mulgrew, Adarabioyo, Bennett, Downing, Johnson, Rothwell, Holtby, Armstrong, Samuel. Travis, monumental loss as is Lenihan. Bennett at LB again *slams head against laptop*. Edited June 30, 2020 by Gavlar Somerset Rover! 3 Quote

chaddyrovers Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 No Lenihan and Travis. Big miss. Could Rovers play 3-4-3 tonight I wonder. Quote
yellowsubmarine Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 Why cant Downing play left back and Davenport in the middle instead of Bennett all the time. Our "captain" is poor at right back, right wing, and suddenly he can play left back. 2 Quote
GHR Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 Well, dropping Gallagher is a start I guess. Feel sorry for Brereton, he's looked like a different player since the restart. Great way to harness the confidence he must have gotten of late... Doubt there'll be an easier game on paper this season to score in either. 1 Quote
Displaced Rover Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 (edited) Christ what a joke. If he's picking a team to actively try not to win I'd rather it contain a few youngsters. Not only is playing Mulgrew and Bennett in our defence an atrocious idea, it teaches us nothing for our (inevitable) next season in the Championship. Edited June 30, 2020 by Displaced Rover 3 Quote
WacoRover Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 Interesting. Huge opportunity for Tony to show genius tonight. Quote
philipl Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 The expected defeat will end our season this evening. The side looks odd and unbalanced all over the park. Brereton and Armstrong should start together. Barnsley must not have believed their luck when they saw that teamsheet. 2 Quote
CD_93 Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 So I guess we now see whether Mulgrew is offered a new deal. Quote
superniko Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 Without our 3 most important players, and the spine of the team in Lenihan - Travis - Dack. Bookies giving us only a 33% chance of win, with Barnsley more likely at 37% chance. Read into that as you will but speaks volumes given they’re bottom of the league and there is no crowd. Quote
RoversClitheroe Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 Didn't see Mulgrew started. If he's leaving at the end of the season why isn't Carter starting? Quote

chaddyrovers Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 2-1 Rovers win.. Armstrong and Nyambe to score. Quote
Feed the Yak Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 I don't like that lineup but all I care about is the result today. Shame no Brereton and how Bennett gets in at Lb I don't know... I never thought I'd see Mulgrew start again for us. He was great for us in league 1, not so great in this league. Hopefully he ends his time with us on a high. 1 Quote
LDRover Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 To play Bennett after his utterly abysmal showing on Saturday cannot be defended. And I'd have played a youngster rather than Walton - a good, strong manager would've sent out a message tonight - safe to say we haven't got one. 6 Quote
G Somerset Rover Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 (edited) I know we’re not exactly blessed with options at centre half tonight, but I just can’t see Mulgrew and Tosin being a good partnership. I fear they’ll be far too laid back as a combination and just not switched on enough. Edited June 30, 2020 by Gavlar Somerset Rover! 1 Quote
Displaced Rover Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 3-1 Barnsley. They have something to play for, we've got an incredibly stubborn manager. Quote

I know youve always been staunchly against his return, and have even said youd prefer Carter before. With Mulgrew and Bennett in the defence, we could be in for a long evening. So hard to see the shape we are playing. Must win, thats for sure. Quote
RevidgeBlue Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 Pretty typical of Mowbray. Bennett and Walton wouldn't get dropped if they wiped Mowbray's family out at gunpoint. Brereton couldn't get a run of games if he prevented Bennett and Walton from wiping out Mowbray's family at gunpoint. At least Armstrong is back in but what has Samuel done to deserve the nod? It's obviously his turn to be useless on the right wing instead of Gallagher. It's going to be "interesting" (as in scary) to see how Mulgrew does as well. Not looking good. 1 Quote
Wing Wizard Windy Miller Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 Weak as Fosters that line up. Not a tackle in it. Either we control the game Barca style or we get a hiding. Not sure I can be arsed watching. When's the cricket start... Quote
