That is Whelan. I'm talking about Wigan fans in general. If you can't remember the stick they gave us then you have a short memory, Sparks.

Whelan may have done as an ex-Rover, but a lot of their fans revelled in our misfortune.

I think, as usual the EFL will take the path of least resistance and impose the 12 point deduction. The last thing they want is a court case. In my view they will take a black and white approach and enforce the rule. As an aside I wonder how much the QC is costing Wigan.

Blackpool never got 12 points, there was no footballing advantage.   Its not as clear cut as you think.  A good lawyer will get them off

Blackpool did not receive a deduction after the High Court put them in to receivership because the EFL ruled that it did not materially affect the club's ability to meet its obligations - with staff not being paid full wages at Wigan I can't see that applying here.

We will see, but I've weighed it up and I believe the EFL will not impose the deduction.

I have a feeling they will get away with it, problem is how many loopholes does it expose?

Clubs could set up a fall guy to take the hit and blame them for any dodgy dealings if there is no punishment to the investment

The EFL must be devastated that Wigan didn’t beat Fulham, would have been so easy for them to dock 12 points with no impact

That's his business. Nothing to stop him demolishing their stadium if that's what he wants to do.

He owns them so it is his business. Only the same as why Venkys continue their reign of terror here.

Will he can't nowt now. cos the club is in administration.

I meant why buy a club then 4 weeks later he put them into administration? Very strange actions of a businessman

If the EFL drop the 12 points then Barnsley will take them to court surely?

Maybe, but Barnsley would be taking the piss because they finished bottom 3 and the admin is nothing to do with football per say..

To be fair to wigan, it looks more like a liquidation. Setting up a new company to do the liquidation and selling the club to that business during the pandemic is proper opportunistic and I don't think the club is to blame.

But have an owner who has financial back the club. Not Barnsley fault that Wigan had an owner who put the club into administration is it?

whether its the club is to blame or not, the rules are clear.

Relegating Barnsley and a subsequent appeal could have big consequences for the scheduled start of the Championship on September 12th. With the best will in the world it would be extremely difficult to set the wheels in motion and hear a court case in six weeks.

EFL = Extremely Flawed Leadership.

What the Wigan owner did looks strange and may even be dodgy.

But that wouldn't be the first time

Infact I'd probably identify dodgy looking stuff in most cases of administration somewhere along the line. It doesn't actually matter. The rules are black and white. You go into admin then you get -12

The only complication I see is that this happened beyond the normal season ending date, however the League agreed to extend it until early August so surely the rules and punishments happen the same.

The EFL want an easy life, minimal trouble or disruption. Upholding the Wigan deduction might sting them but is the least controversial and messy option.

If they don't then any club in the league for whatever reason can go into admin, wipe off debts and cart on regardless.

It cannot happen.

But Sheffield Wednesday and Derby have had charges hanging over them regarding sale of stadium to owners for yonks. In Wednesday's case the hearing was November 2019 but no decision has ever been announced!!

Suppose down the track it is and either Derby or Wednesday attract a 12 points deduction? Wigan will already have been relegated.

But should it have been Wednesday? Could Wigan have a case?

Heard all this in 5 Live a few minutes ago and it doesn't give me much faith in the people who run the EPL. What a mess.

If Wigan reform under a new club, isn't that automatic relegation to League 2, which would mean the League One clubs deciding between Tranmere and Exeter City?

I think Wigan have a case that any points deduction occur next season. The Championship, next seasons, could start with Derby, Sheff Wed and Wigan all on -12 points. A number of clubs were reported to be displeased that Birmingham City didn't have more points deducted.

If by some miracle the Pie Munchers do get away with this, a trip over to a certain Bolton MB should be quite entertaining. After all the problems their own Club has encountered,I have never before seen such a bunch of spiteful and bitter Ham shankers in my life as the Piggies!

I'd say i understand the notlob fans after all they've been through the ringer but a lot of them are like that all the time. Especially towards their smaller town but bigger profile illustrious counsins other side of Darwen ?

They would have been, if true he had to get rid of Wigan due to not being able to renew his casino license if he had a ownership of a sports team
