Popular Post bluebruce Posted July 14, 2020 Popular Post Posted July 14, 2020 (edited) There is a game on Saturday at 3pm. We are in it. Reading are also in it. This is an absolute must-play game. It's crucial that we play this game. For Reading also, it's extremely important that they play this game. Mid-table mediocrity bragging rights are on the line. If we don't field a team that can play this game, we will have no chance of achieving our dream of fulfilling our fixture list. The stakes are now very real. I'm hoping we can field a team that definitely includes Bennett. This hope is the best way to make sure I'm not disappointed. It might be best if he plays in goal, as I think it's the only position he hasn't been crammed into, with Walton as a false 9. I expect Tony to field a never-before-seen formation so that we can have a talking point. With the playoffs and relegation no longer on the cards, we should probably try out more of the youngsters and players with a future who need to keep developing. So the out-of-contractors and the loanees will definitely play in our 2-6-1-1 formation, with 6 CMs, Gally RW, no LW and Walton as the false 9. I can't emphasise strongly enough how excited I am that we are in with a great chance to play this game. Anything less than 0 points is just unacceptable. Edited July 14, 2020 by bluebruce 25 Quote

WacoRover Posted July 14, 2020 Posted July 14, 2020 I think in the history of posting game threads, this is the quickest new thread. What a game... what a team! Such anticipation! ? The home cutouts are already in their seats, relishing such a divine opportunity to vanquish infidels, set all things awright, and Tony is sure to be himself again. That’s all we know for sure. 2 Quote

Backroom DE. Posted July 14, 2020 Backroom Posted July 14, 2020 I have some morbid curiosity about the line-up but that's about it. If Samuel starts again I expect a new contract is imminent for him. 2 Quote

Displaced Rover Posted July 14, 2020 Posted July 14, 2020 (edited) I won't be watching, but I will keep an eye on the line up, if Christian Walton starts this match....... Edited July 14, 2020 by Displaced Rover Quote

That’s all we know for sure. I can't lie, I was considering posting something very similar and sarcasm-laden, for this game. But I thought I'd be an optimist and wait til it really wasn't possible. One of the cut-outs is Dr Who. I hope he's here to fix the timeline. 1 Quote
WacoRover Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 Just for fun (y’all forgive me if I don’t put the players in the right formation: Hilton JR-C Nyambe Lenihan Hart Rothwell Chapman Davenport Travis Armstrong Brereton 1 Quote
AllRoverAsia Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 This is a must keep the squad and bank manager happy game. Play all the oldies, has-beens and never-will-be for a bonus appearance wage bounce and % split Bennett has again committed to paying Mrs M. for the half-time Lemon Drizzle cake. Tony is borrowing a deckchair from Venus and wonders where Waggot is. 1 Quote
RoverDom Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 Chance to blood some youngsters and see what we're working with next season. I therefore expect Bennett in goal, Gallagher playing RWB and Mulgrew as a wide forward and Bradley Orr as false 9. Quote

MarkBRFC Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 We'll probably win this pretty comfortably because nobody cares. Quote

The Armstrong goal alone against Cardiff almost makes it worthwhile, but I doubt I will watch anymore now that we have died off with a whimper. Quote

Would probably still play Tosin (if we have 10% hope of seeing him again next year). I think Chapman is DOA. Would look to play: Hilton Nyambe - Lenihan - Tosin - JRC Davenport - Travis Holtby - Rothwell - Armstrong Gallagher/Brereton Every player (Barring Tosin) under contract next season, needs to play and not classed as dead wood (unless they cost £5m+). Carter, Buckley, Butterworth filling and coming off the bench. Of course I believe we're more likely to see Downing, Mulgrew, Smallwood, Graham, Walton, Samuel, Bennett, Johnson and Hart. But either way, I actually don't care now. To be honest... i actually think the team I picked above would beat any of Mowbrays team selection 8 times out of 10 all season. 3 Quote
BlackburnEnd75 Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 I'll be having a look at the team before I decide to watch this one. 3 Quote
tomphil Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 We'll win the last couple in comfortable fashion it was only really the dead rubbers at the end of last season that glossed over the cracks and gave a skewed view to some in anticipation for this season. Once it started it was obvious nothing much had changed and that was with a fit Bradley Dack. Rovers 4 Reading 1 Quote
WacoRover Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 I’m not so quick to give Rovers the win over either of these clubs. Reading’s form has been better, and Luton, fighting for survival, have already beat us at our house. Quote
Mercer Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 I think very few will care about this game other than Mowbray. Mowbray will, IMO, field a team that will all be about self preservation. Sadly, I think Rovers will win their last two games to paper over the cracks and allow Mowbray to bang on about a season of progress and what would have been without the injury to Dack I'll take two humiliations in our last two games if it secures the departure of Mowbray. 2 Quote

The problem is even if we do get humiliated in the last two games Mowbray will not be pushed. 1 Quote
