Am i thick or is he a genius? Answers on a postcard 1) 9 + 9 + 3 = 21 2) 3 x (1+2+3+4) 3 x 10 = 30 Can't get the bulb one though? Only logical answer is the bulb = 15. (2 x 15) - 15 = 15. In which case Answer: 9 + (1+2+2+4) x (3x15) BODMAS means it is 9 + (9 x 45) = 9 + 405 = 414. 2 Quote
Dreams of 1995 Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 Hahahaha fuck sake, just got the lightbulb one but could only do it after working back from Dreyski's correct answer. The above is wrong, I'm an awful QS, always have been, always will. 1 Quote

oldjamfan1 Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 (edited) SPOILER ALERT The light bulbs are what usually catch people out. 1 Bulb + 1 Bulb - 1 Bulb = 15. Cancelling out the + and -; we get 1 Bulb with five lights = 15. Therefore, one bulb with one light = 3 Bulb with 4 lights = 4 x 3 = 12 Therefore the final equation is - 9'o clock + Calulator (1+2+2+4) x 3 bulbs (with four light rays each) Translating the final equation into numbers - 9 + (1+2+2+4) x 3(12) 9 + (9 x 36) = 9 + 324 = 333 Edited July 20, 2020 by oldjamfan1 2 Quote
bazza Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 (edited) No way. 9+9x36=648 It did when I was at school. No brackets there!!! If you want the answer to be 333 then you have to express it as 9 +( 9 x 36). There are no brackets in the original puzzle. So the doctor's wrong. No matter. I don't expect my GP to be a brilliant mathematician. I expect him/her to be a brilliant doctor. Edited July 20, 2020 by bazza Quote
