RovingRover Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 From what I gather, Mowbray will be relying on Free's and Loan's to patch together a working squad next season. Shall post the top two division Released Lists to give an indicator of what we have available to us. Players on high wages or are above our station can obviously be skimmed over by readers. Also expect Tony to make use of the International Market this summer, with Germany a country of interest. Hoochie Bloochie Mama Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 We've been linked with both Daniel Ayala and Morgan Fox in the recent past. But sadly not Megan Fox. 7 Quote
Norbert Rassragr Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 Wouldn't mind Vorm, Ayala and Yoshida. 2 Quote
JacknOry Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 Might as well start off the Marcus Maddisson yearly discussion. 1 Quote
davulsukur Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 Whats Eric Lichaj like? Guessing not great based on Hulls season but I thought he was supposedly decent at Forest? Quote
Paul Mani Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 (edited) Ayala, Fox and Al habsi would be a great start. Cauley Woodrow as a wildcard maybe? Edited July 25, 2020 by Paul Mani 1 Quote
Ricky Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 Al Habsi is 38 now. No idea if he’s got another season left in him. Quote
Ricky Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 Would Sam Hutchinson be worth a look? Still only 30 and seems to have overcome a lot of the injury issues which plagued his career in his earlier years. 1 Quote

Dreams of 1995 Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 Luke Garbutt at left back isn’t the worst shout in the world either Quote
McClarky Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 Wonder where Ryan Fraser will go. Stay in the Prem I suppose but a great signing for someone. Quote
JacknOry Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 Jack Colback (30, been on loan at forest for past couple years) Ben Henerghan (Once linked) Nathanial Clyne (Just 29 but would a PL team take a risk with him due to his serious recent injuries?) Lyle Taylor (Is this the guy scoring for fun earlier in the season) Quote

Miller11 Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 Some good names in that lot. Jackson Irvine is a very good midfielder, if we are going to continue to stockpile in that position at least make it a good un! To be honest, all our efforts need to be concentrated on goalkeepers at the moment. Shouldn’t be worrying about anything else until that’s sorted. 5 Quote
chaddyrovers Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 Ayala would be good signing. George Tanner was linked with us in January. Wonder if we look to sign him? Quote
roversfan99 Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 Cant see Ayala touching us with a barge pole or us affording his wages. Not sure why the whole Barnsley squad is on there but I dont think Woodrow for example is out of contract. Going to be a tough market with so many teams reliant on freebies plus us at a disadvantage actually agreeing on a budget. Quite a few on there that take the eye but probably out of our league financially, Lyle Taylor, Jordan Ibe, Jackson Irvine, Steven Fletcher, Jack Colback etc. Suspect that Morgan Fox, Brad Smith, Demetri Mitchell and Steven Kingsley are the most obvious left backs, again youd ask if any are going to improve us. Tom Lockyer is available for nothing from Charlton, Welsh International CB. Maya Yoshida, experienced CB. Danny Ward from Cardiff up front. Just feels like these players are very much scraping the bottom of the barrel, suspect we will need to be a little more imaginative if we want to improve. Surely our new, famous European scouting network will pick gems off the continent and we wont even need to look at this anyway... Quote

RovingRover Posted July 25, 2020 Author Posted July 25, 2020 (edited) Couple of players off the list I think might be worth a trial are Tom Carroll and Alexander Milošević. Carroll could be a steal if he can get back into form/fitness and has plenty of experience. Milošević at 6ft 4in would add to our tall defensive backline and give us a further threat at set pieces. We definitely need 2 CB's this summer. More if as expected Mulgrew, Williams and maybe even Wharton depart. Couldn't hurt to bring them in for a trial. Edited July 25, 2020 by RovingRover Quote
joey_big_nose Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 If we really are only shopping for frees we are in serious trouble. I cant see us even barely adequately plugging all our gaps for less than £5m and be able to hold our position mid table, let alone kick on. And If we are spending £0 then we will be likely to be sucked into a Bolton style relegation vortex if (as you would expect) most of the frees turn out to be poor. Armstrong, Dack, Lenihan, Travis will be queuing to leave. So in summary hope this is wide of the mark. Quote

You can guarantee the players are on that list who could be obtained for the right wages and more than adequately plug our gaps and help us kick on to promotion. It's just about picking the right ones and selling it to them. That's the hard part, and that's where I see us falling down. Then again I see us falling down even if we have a decent budget, we have before. Quote
Fraserkirky Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 Jackson Irvine would be a quality signing 1 Quote
BlackburnEnd75 Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 I'd take david stockdale as an experienced number 2 keeper. Rob elliot also available on a free. Luke Garbutt as an attacking left back could be a good shout Quote

Backroom Tom Posted July 26, 2020 Backroom Posted July 26, 2020 We all know we lack imagination therefore the most likely signing from the list is Ben Heneghan who we were linked to before he went to Sheffield United (and never played) 1 Quote
