Popular Post A Northern Horde... Posted August 21, 2020 Popular Post Posted August 21, 2020 What has happened to the general maintenance of Ewood of Park..does anyone at the Club care anymore?. We were gifted the new Ewood Park from Jack Walker,a legacy dear to all Blackburn Rovers fans and the People of Blackburn in general. 'We will respect the Jack Walker legacy' fawned Madame Desai...yeah right! The current state of the Stadium is not acceptable,I urge fellow Board Members,Fans Forum and even visiting Telegraph Reporters to get involved on this thread and issue. Further photos will follow as hopefully it will shame someone at the Club into taking action,It's shameful and embarrassing for a Club of our Stature...PLEASE VOICE YOUR CONCERN. 14 Quote

Popular Post Mattyblue Posted August 21, 2020 Popular Post Posted August 21, 2020 I see a well known brfcs-er is defending it on Twitter, ‘cos furlough’. Not an excuse, ground staff could keep on top of that kind of stuff - though they are very stretched these days with covering both sites. But ask for volunteers! We are a supposed to be ‘a club’, no? The furlough is a red herring that neatly allows the executives to abdicate their very basic duties, the state of the ground has been a disgrace for years. 11 Quote
MarkBRFC Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 Agreed. That pic infuriates me though. It really isn't the huge job they make out to maintain the grounds around the place. 1 Quote
tomphil Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 Like i said it's a knapsack of weedkiller once every month or two and would take no more than an hour or two. I know, iv'e done enough of this kind of thing and costed enough jobs. If it the club was on genuine hard times i'd have done it for free ! For this shower of fat arsed suits on several hundred grand then no chance. 8 Quote
roversfan99 Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 An absolute disgrace and no excuse. Presumably they would have signed off a cheque for unlimited weed killer but for FFP. 6 Quote
Popular Post JHRover Posted August 21, 2020 Popular Post Posted August 21, 2020 I've had it on good authority that a previous power washing effort went wrong. The sand between the brickwork was all blasted out leaving gaps between the bricks which have become perfect weed growing areas. This has exacerbated the problem with weeds, as has the lockdown of Ewood and failure to ensure proper upkeep. Shameful. I've been told that the inside of the ground is also in an appalling condition other than the pitch itself. This is the only part of the stadium that has been properly maintained since March. This is what happens when the people running the club have no pride or interest in the club and its appearance. It infests every element of the club. Waggott done a disappearing act. A decade of minimal interest and doing the bare minimum. It catches up eventually. 11 Quote
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 Exactly what happened with my next door neighbours block paving. Quote
AllRoverAsia Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 I was stunned by that photo above. In a bad way. Brought tears to my eyes. 3 Quote
SBlue Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 I don't get to many home games so it has been very noticeable for me when walking towards the ground how it has deteriorated over time. The brickwork on all 3 new stands needs a good scrub up, looks grotty but could look great. Shame. 2 Quote

How on earth can anybody in their right mind defend the club for that? It embarrasses and angers me as a supporter to see that. And the seeds were sown (no pun intended) some time ago as I noticed Ewood Park looking unkempt and in need of cleaning and tidying. I put it down to laziness and too many people in power in their comfort zone, who don't seem bothered as our club deteriorates. Come on Waggott, earn your flaming big salary by actually doing something. Or f*** off and let somebody else. 4 Quote

It explains the slow build. They've probably sampled the goods and spent all summer giggling and eating Revels. Edited August 21, 2020 by Hoochie Bloochie Mama 2 Quote
A Northern Horde... Posted August 21, 2020 Author Posted August 21, 2020 (edited) Ewood Park as of this morning...closed and gated. Truly shocking.. Edited August 21, 2020 by A Northern Horde... 5 Quote
SBlue Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 Shocking. That really wouldn't cost a lot to get a couple of landscapers and a pressure washer down for the day. 2 Quote
Mattyblue Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 (edited) They removed a fantastic pictorial historical timeline for that ‘Visiting Supporters Ticket Sales’, even though there is another sign just behind saying the exact same thing. A club, nay an institution, that has completely lost its way and needs pulling up by its bootstraps. Edited August 21, 2020 by Mattyblue 8 Quote
A Northern Horde... Posted August 21, 2020 Author Posted August 21, 2020 Yes Matty the historical picture timeline was fantastic..torn down and never replaced. The ground looked in such a sorry state this morning. Quote
Amo Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 Shabby and neglected. Is the outside now reflecting the inside? 1 Quote
JHRover Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 I think Alan Myers was behind the picture timeline thing. I didn't agree with some of the events selected but it was a good way of using dead space to showcase our history. Is the other one at the BBE still there? Shows how much attention I pay. Inside the ground isnt much better. Fading seats, flaking paint. The yellow warning paint on the stairwells hasn't been done in years and is filthy where people kick their feet. What would a tin of yellow paint cost to go over it and smarten up. It really is shocking. Quote
arbitro Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 I keep reading from several posters that Venkys are paying the bills. Presumably that does not cover the cleansing and maintenance bills. And Mowbray saw fit to give a month's extra money to players he had no intention of playing. A decade of decay sums that lot up perfectly. 9 Quote

I expect the club will say that some of those photos are nothing to do with the club as they are beyond the club's boundaries in the alley behind Bolton Road and not their responsibility to maintain. That doesn't excuse the grime on the BBE and JW stands. You would also expect the club to take an interest in the mould and filth gathering right outside their gates rather than just leaving it. With players, officials, sponsors, fans and visitors coming to the ground you would expect them to want to project a positive image of the area. What sort of impressions would a new signing get having to drive through weeds, moss and litter gathering outside the main entrance? 2 Quote

They didn’t look particularly tatty or faded, an easy gimmick to showcase our heritage. I honestly can’t comprehend the decision making. Edited August 21, 2020 by Mattyblue Quote
