Thought Dolan was great last night and has been one of the few players who has performed during this poor spell for the team.

If we could get last night out of him every game then he would be a top player for the club. The potential is definitely there but rovers have never managed to get some consistency in his game.

Be a shame to see him leave at the end of the season, especially knowing we won't replace him with anything any better.

He’s not good enough for a top 6 chasing team.

As our plan is seemingly to get relegated, then yes he probably will be a loss.

If we ever become a more ambitious club once again, we need much better.

I do believe Dolan has been singled out for criticism for reasons I don't know. Ewood traditionally loves a committed, whole

hearted trier even if he isn't the crown jewels and I can go back farther than Ally McCleod!

Dolan is better than many fans believe he is.

Absolutely spot on.

Allowing players like Dolan to walk out of the club is just another example of consistent mismanagement by these appalling owners.

Well we won't have him much longer and do you really think he'll be replaced by somebody better?

No ofc he won’t be replaced by someone better.

There are plenty of other things to worry about beyond the mismanagement of his contract. He’s a decent mid table championship player - he’s not a difference maker for getting you out the league - we’ll see where he ends up

At the end of the day I’m not going to get particularly upset about Dolan leaving - a player who probably doesn’t crack the top 300 who I’ve seen at Ewood…

Looks like we've been watching the same player.

Letting him walk away would be a big mistake.

Only time he'll get any appreciation on here is when he is long gone.

Being fair to the constant critics replacing him with a budget wouldn't be that hard - calibre of recruitment staff notwithstanding - but replacing him for the cost of a tea bag with a cheap import, academy graduate, piss weak loanee most certainly will not.

He wants to play 'at the highest level' and of course knows that isn't going to be possible staying here. Says it all given the positions we have been in the last 3 Januarys.

When he rocks up at a Stoke or Derby some people at Rovers might consider that to be vindication that he 'wasn't much good anyway' but I'd argue a lad established at this club who would rather join a rival Championship side is the most concerning thing here. Plus we know that whoever we get to replace him will likely be inferior or not our player.

I'd say he is gone. I'd quite confidently say he will double his money somewhere in this league. 200 Championship games at 23 is an easy punt for anybody in this league for just paying a bit of compo.

100% gone.

His agent will have been putting the feelers out for months. He'll probably already have a contract on the table from Derby and I suspect that's where he'll end up, as I reckon Derby will be backing Eustace (much better than we did anyway), nabbing Dolan for a pittance will be a no brainer for Eustace you'd imagine (assuming they stay up)

I think there will be some quietly confident Derby fans that should they stay up this season, they will be at the other end of the table next.

In any case, that interview confirms to me he isn't staying.

Definitely not staying, which is a shame as he has always fought hard and given 100%. 200 games is not a small number and even if I don't think he has the premier league quality he might think he has, he is a very solid top-half championship player.

As others have said, the indictment on the club is that he doesn't think he can achieve his goals here and will end up at another championship club, potentially Derby with Eustace.

Think Dolan 'rolling the pitch' with that interview - he's going!

We've seen a big effort from Dolan in recent games and a cynic would think that's all about putting himself in the shop window.

By no means a world beater and under normal circumstances would be no loss but, sadly, the way the club now is, likely to be replaced by someone worse!

I think he thinks he’s better than he actually is. Likeable and hard working but inconsistent and slow (despite looking like he should be fast). I think we are pretty much his ceiling and he will step sideways to another average championship side. Poor management to not prolong his contract though as his replacement will probably be inferior.

You know his replacement will be another naff loan like Moran or Duberry. Would much rather keep him given our situation but he is long gone IMO.

We already have his replacement, once he is back from loan.

Is Markanday not also out of contract?

I don't know, but Markanday may be cheaper to re-sign than Dolan. Neither are good enough for the Rovers, but needs must.

If he'd any intention of staying he'd have signed an extension long before now the writing has been on the wall for 18 months.

If this lot had any intention of keeping him they'd have tied him down way before now so just another in a long line of Waghail failures who'll leave for shirt buttons compen.

As inconsistent as he is he can never be accused of ducking the graft on the pitch so good luck to him i expect he'll be having a stormer against us next season for a Boro or WBA.

I think people should keep in mind he hasn't said 'I'm good enough to play in the Premiership now, as a regular.'

He has said his ambition is to eventually play at the top level, which is a good ambition to have. Also remember he's only 23 and we have seen other, older players improve rapidly.
