Popular Post SuperBrfc Posted Thursday at 15:15 Popular Post Posted Thursday at 15:15 "I want to play at the top level, that should be everyone's mindset". The bit in bold, IMO, is aimed at Pasha and Waggott. There's no such mindset here at upper level and Dolan and plenty of others in the squad will know it. Many over the years, be that players or managers have realised that too and have subsequently left the building. I'm not Dolan's biggest fan as a player, but there's no doubting his workrate and commitment over the years. When he first arrived he brought something new to the team. An enthusiastic youngster who would try stepovers and who looked tricky at times. He then bulked up quite a bit and his game sort of changed. There have been some good moments and performances from him in the years since and a number of frustrating moments too. If he could just release the ball quicker at times and improve his decision making there would be a player there. I remember a number of times him not playing a teammate in at the right time as he had his head down or was taking too many touches. Frustrating, but he can work on it. He has always been respectful towards the club and the fans though so fair play to him. He's almost certainly gone, based on that article. I'm just waiting to see which of the following predictable garbage will be put out by the bullshitters upon his exit: "We couldn't stand in his way" "We made him a competitive offer, but his mind was made up, unfortunately" "We couldn't offer him the kind of wages (insert club) was offering, sadly" "Tyrhys is an ambitious individual and wants to play in the top flight, he felt (insert club) gives him the best opportunity to do that". If Dolan or anybody connected to him is reading this...thanks for all of your efforts over the years. We all wanted promotion, we were all in in together, but sadly it was never happening under this clown setup. Neither you, or the rest of the players are the problem at this football club. All the best. 18 Quote
Popular Post Gav Posted Monday at 16:32 Popular Post Posted Monday at 16:32 (edited) Don’t forget everyone, this club continues to shoot itself in both foot, it’s continually setup to fail. Dolan will be allowed to walk out of the club in the summer unless something drastic changes, it’s criminal, it’s incompetence and it’s a disgrace. Popular Post Tomphil2 Posted Monday at 19:56 Popular Post Posted Monday at 19:56 He'll only really be appreciated by some when he's finally gone and Markandy or some skinny kid on loan is trying to fill his place. A player like him is absolutely integral to how we allegedly want to play but he's another walking for nothing or next to it and this isn't 'just football' it's been going on for 2 years. More than enough time to sort it or sell. There is something very very wrong inside this football club. 10 Quote
ElTwis Posted Monday at 20:07 Posted Monday at 20:07 We should be doing all we can to keep Dolan but only to a point. We've no idea what he/his agent believes he's worth wages wise, if that's 25k a week then the cold hard truth of it is that he is not good enough to pay that money. If on the other hand we're playing hard ball and refusing to pay him 12k a week then that's a classicly stupid position to take as despite his weaknesses, he makes the team better. 1 Quote
Tomphil2 Posted Monday at 20:14 Posted Monday at 20:14 Considering he came as a kid off the scrap heap i'd assume he was on peanuts and any wage rise since won't have seen him anywhere near double figures. We've no idea the figures but when becoming not only an established first teamer but an important one he'd be entitled to want parity with some others. I think the chances of him being low balled a few years ago and another stand off developing with the contract dept are better odds than him asking for 25k a week. Quote
B16Rover Posted Monday at 20:23 Posted Monday at 20:23 (edited) Hesitant to buy too much into the narrative that he wants huge money. However looking at the squad over the course of the year, comparing him to Cantwell - what would a good agent say? He's clearly a young ambitious lad who's pulled himself up the football pyramid. What he perhaps lacks in football intelligence at times he makes up for in work rate. What's the bet we've done little to identify an adequate replacement? We probably have a few punts lined up. As a note too, he's always (seemingly) done all the fan events thrown at him. Also saw a clip of him at 5 a side in Manchester. Wild speculation but he seems to want and appreciate being a footballer. Edited Monday at 20:24 by B16Rover 6 Quote
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted Monday at 20:52 Posted Monday at 20:52 Unless things at the club change dramatically he’ll be replaced by an inferior player. 8 Quote
Wheelton Blue Posted yesterday at 07:23 Posted yesterday at 07:23 A progressive club would have either paid him the going rate or sold him on 12 months ago and reinvested. But oh, not us. 4 Quote
Mattyblue Posted yesterday at 07:35 Posted yesterday at 07:35 Amazing how after over a decade in this league how many posters on here don’t understand the Championship. Season after season of ‘he’s crap’, ‘he’s League 1’, ‘he’ll never get another Championship gig’ Guess what (for this level) he ain’t, he ain’t, he will. 5 Quote
Wheelton Blue Posted yesterday at 07:38 Posted yesterday at 07:38 An ambitious club would do better though, Matty. Of which we are plainly not. Quote
JHRover Posted yesterday at 07:40 Posted yesterday at 07:40 We know how this goes by now despite some people's best efforts to delude themselves into the old 'grass isn't greener' routine. That one used to wash in the Walker Trust days when we spoke of people like Santa Cruz and Bentley moving away and struggling but under the existing rotten regime more often than not the grass is greener. I can't be bothered listing all the names but there are a lot who have walked out of here and gone on to better things whilst this club flounders. Dolan most certainly won't get a PL move. That was never realistically on the cards and I doubt he seriously thinks it was. What is on the cards is a 3-4 year Championship level contract at a Derby, Stoke, Coventry, Middlesbrough etc. together with a juicy signing on fee. This is purely because the people running this club have decided we aren't in the business of offering Championship level deals these days. Which is hard to fathom given our losses continue to, allegedly, reach £20 million a year. 4 Quote
Mattyblue Posted yesterday at 07:40 Posted yesterday at 07:40 (edited) Not saying we should be thinking Dolan is some world beater, of course he isn’t. But even as a progressive club expecting to be top 6 challengers he’d still be well worth a place in the squad. Decent Championship player, simple as that. Tugayisgod Posted yesterday at 07:51 Posted yesterday at 07:51 I believe Dolan can't leave for nothing because of his age but does anyone know how the compensation figure is worked out ? Could we potentially get £3m or so for him ? Quote
Wheelton Blue Posted yesterday at 07:52 Posted yesterday at 07:52 'A place in the squad' is about right for such a club. Here though, we're now seemingly desperate for him to remain as a starter, such is our squad predicament. To be clear, I'm all for keeping him, simply because he'll be replaced with a lot worse. 1 Quote
chaddyrovers Posted yesterday at 08:09 Posted yesterday at 08:09 Dolan's agent was at Ewood Park on Good Friday Quote

DeeCee Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago I was all for him going earlier in the season but he's won me over somewhat with his (better than usual) performances and his overall persona. 1 Quote

If they can't agree it goes to tribunal. (This is also dependent on us having offered him a contract on equal or better terms than his current one...even with our useless lot, that's a given though) Quote

The likelihood is that Markanday will be talked up as his replacement, being like a new signing etc. At least until Chesterfield make an "unbelievable" offer for him that they couldn't turn down in the final hours of the summer window, leaving no time to source a replacement Quote

(This is also dependent on us having offered him a contract on equal or better terms than his current one...even with our useless lot, that's a given though) The below link sets out the criteria: https://playerstatus.thefa.com/support/solutions/articles/80001137042-compensation-fee-tribunal By way of some sort of comparison, Harvey Elliot’s compensation was set at an initial £1.2 million rising to a potential of £4.3 million so (to me at least) £3 million for Dolan seems on the high side. I believe the Elliot figure was decided around 18 months after he joined Liverpool so it wouldn’t appear any monies for Dolan would be with us anytime soon. edited to add: The link refers to training compensation under FIFA regulations should a player move abroad. This wouldn’t be applicable in Dolan’s case as payments are only due under this regulation for transfers taking place before the end of the calendar year in which a player turns 23. Tomphil2 Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago (edited) The Ewood bean counters will be happy with a million in compen and the saving of not having to hand out a shiny 3 or 4 year weekly double figure contract. Win win for them then they can put five grand a week towards a young loanee. They are gaining a lump sum instead of committing several mill over a contract and they have a small wage to reinvest. It's the stuff CEO & COO bonuses are handed out for ! Edited 16 hours ago by Tomphil2 3 Quote
AndyB Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Here's an article specifically on players under 24. One of the components in determining the fee is the terms offered by both clubs. So if the club make a stupidly low offer it will probably decrease the amount of compensation they receive. https://www.leathesprior.co.uk/news/compensation-for-players-under-24-a-mystery 2 Quote
MarkBRFC Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Have to admire Elliot getting an article out there this morning saying "it's a waiting game to see if we can secure Dolan's services". There isn't a chance he is staying here. 1 Quote
Tomphil2 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago He's possibly on the B list of a play off club. If we miss out we'll sign you for next seasons promotion push but if we go up sorry we'll be signing from our A list. So it might be a long wait but then again it could just be down to seeing what next seasons budget actually is here and getting owners approval to offer him better terms. That's unlikely to happen until the annual summer Venky HQ meeting anywhere between June and August 🤨 Quote
