Mattyblue Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 Waiting for what league we’ll be in? So why didn’t he sign before Christmas when we were nowhere near relegation then? Quote

Dolan has been waiting to see what division we would be in before committed his future here but I expect he will re-sign here I know what has been said, my point is he knew very well what division we would be in last July when the talks started. He may well sign, I hope he does but it has taken a very long time. Quote

Reason for the delay maybe Quote

These are some long old negotiations! Can't help but think, we are getting a year extension then he walks for free. The new Junior Hoilett. "He'll sign any day now" 5 Quote

He actually got hawked down by #44, Gruev (a DM) on that break - he literally caught up to Dolan and overtook him. Dolan is many things, but he's not fast. He's quick over a few yards and has a low centre of gravity, but he very, very rarely wins an extended sprint. 1 Quote

His decision making at times is questionable but yesterday he was a real team player and disciplined in pretty much everything he did. He’s quick over 10 yards but over say 40 yards he’s average pace wise. We haven’t got any real flyers in the team. The sort of players who can just run away from defenders with the ball at their feet. Regarding decision making - he has a tendency to over elaborate, usually when he’s trying to buy time in possession so the other strikers can get forward in attack. He just needs to keep it simple and go for it. I like the lad, he plays with a smile on his face. I’d be disappointed if he leaves. We’d miss his enthusiasm. 4 Quote

I was trying to remember which player it was that walked away that was always "just going to sign". Lucas Neil gets a lot of shit but at least we knew 18 months in advance what the crack was there. 1 Quote

I would say that speed off the mark is one of the most important assets of a striker. I agree about his decision making and that is a frustrating aspect of his game. In a high press he is our most important player. Quote

If you’re playing in an around the box being rapid over 10 yards is vital. I would argue Dolan is quick over short distances and I’m happy with that. I’d be doing my utmost to sign him. If he goes elsewhere we’ll regret it. 5 Quote
Wheelton Blue Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 As with any player, we'd only regret Dolan leaving if we don't replace him with better. Therein lies our problem, though. We wouldn't. Quote

You’d have thought Sigurdsson would have been a better bet than Dolan going off his reputation but it hasn’t turned out that way. Better the players you know can actually perform. 1 Quote
roverblue Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 Thought yesterday was his best game in a rovers shirt for a good while after a poor one at PNE last week. The ball stuck to him and he worked his socks off, my MotM. Pity his run and shot didn’t go in the first half would have been a goal of the season contender but the keeper read it well. Defo worth a contract but whether he deserves to be on a par with our highest paid players is prob why he isn’t signing yet. 2 Quote
Moptop1 Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 He won’t be signing a new contract. He’ll be going for money and will get that elsewhere. He’ll be sold in January with The Rao’s seeing £ signs and again doing their best to stop us reaching the play offs. Quote

MarkBRFC Posted September 30, 2024 Posted September 30, 2024 Not only Dolan, need to start thinking about Travis, Tronstad and Brittain as they all expire in 2026. Quote

Tbf if the exact shot he took had gone in, if would have been awful goalkeeping, I wouldn't say he needed to read it well. But if he'd managed to bend it closer to the top corner the keeper would have struggled and it could have been a stunning goal. Not easy to pull off though (but he's done it before). Agree with the rest of the post. Quote
jim mk2 Posted October 5, 2024 Posted October 5, 2024 OK, let's talk Tyrhys Dolan Why on earth was he picked for today's game? I've never seen such a wretched performance by an individual player as he served up at the Ricoh, so what does he have to do to get dropped? 5 Quote
London blue Posted October 5, 2024 Posted October 5, 2024 I'm at a loss. Two dreadful performances from a player who offers very, very little. He's not a winger, he's not a CAM and he's not been very good for the majority of this season. Has to be benched. 1 Quote
Backroom DE. Posted October 5, 2024 Backroom Posted October 5, 2024 When Dolan's form craters like this he needs to be taken out of the firing line. We've seen that time and time again over the past couple of seasons. 2 Quote
roversfan99 Posted October 5, 2024 Posted October 5, 2024 I expect him to start v Swansea as he seems to be a favourite of Eustace. Even on Tuesday, Cantwell was stuck wide to build the team around him. Ideally he and Hedges will leave at the end of the season and we will make considerable upgrades across those attacking areas. That being said, we will only have Cantwell contracted into next season so I expect they will stay and again feature regularly with a small budget only allowing us to bring in more squad players.
