chaddyrovers Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 I hope we can get Dolan to agree a new contract and I think Dolan's comments about Eustace shown its a possibility. I would be offering him a 4 years contract on around 15k a week 1 Quote

Lancaster Rover Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 15k a week works out (based on previous years) 60k per good game! No chance Quote
wilsdenrover Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 The clubs entire wage bill (excluding NI etc) is around £22.5 million. This including 4 players on £15,000 a week (total £3.12 million) doesn’t feel like an unreasonable assumption to me. Whether (if true) any of them deserve such a wage is an entirely different topic!! 1 Quote

Mattyblue Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 All the players in 2011 and 2012 said a certain S K*an was marvellous too, player comments to the media mean feck all. 2 Quote
JHRover Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 I'm not even convinced that the Club - that's Waggott and co - want Dolan to sign a new deal. Of course they will say they do when asked by fans and the media, but its free and easy to say something. They've done a lot of that over the years with little to show for it. He's probably licking his lips at the prospect of getting another wage off the books and perhaps some compensation off his next club. Sadly as we all know footballing considerations are irrelevant at Blackburn Rovers, it's all about what suits the Indians and the charlatans they employ. 4 Quote

Might be another Nyambe, more highly rated by himself and his agent than by anyone else. Blows hot and cold and not enough goals/assists unfortunately, but do like that his workrate is back where it needs to be this season. Also good at getting on the ball, just what comes next that's the problem at times. Quote

But a lot of supporters, myself included, might feel the same way. Dolan is a good squad player, but I'm not sure he's much more than that. To keep him we will have to pay him like he's one of our best 4/5 players. Letting him walk might be the smartest move. 3 1 Quote
steelcityblue Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 Ty Dolan is a conundrum for me. He seems a genuinely nice guy and I want him to succeed and see a lot of quality in him. His work rate is exceptional and his skill with the ball at his feet is terrific but execution and decision making hasn’t really progressed a deal since Mowbray promoted him to the first team squad. Watching Roberts and Rigg at the weekend showed the difference: they almost always progressed play and their trickery with the ball resulted in something. We don’t see that often enough with Ty. Can that be coached? I’m not sure. He’s has three coaches that see something in him and obviously believe in him but haven’t been able to coach a ‘difference maker’ into him. He’s still young and there is hope that he will gain the composure and football brain that he seems to lack but I’m not sure he will. If he chooses to leave then so be it. I don’t think he’s irreplaceable but he’s the kind of guy fans…especially younger ones..can really warm to and be a role model for. As a long term supporter I’ve always prized decent human beings who represent our club because I want to feel proud of the club not just the club’s results. Ty is in that bracket. I just feel there is more his skill set could produce on the field and am frustrated that we don’t see it often enough. 4 Quote
M_B Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 We'll miss him if he leaves, of that I have no doubt. To replace him would take more money than we could afford, the common sense thing to do would be to secure his services. 2 Quote

What we don’t know is what the hold up is regarding Dolan’s contract. Is he asking to be one of the top earners on a long term contract, or are Rovers taking the piss with their offer? Personally, I think he’s a decent Championship player who is capable of having some really good games. He has a fairly unique style of play and can make things happen when he’s on it, but he also makes poor decisions. Sunderland summed him up, missed a sitter but also set up a goal by running at their defence in a way no one else in our squad can. My main gripe with him is that away from Ewood Park he’s fairly useless. He’s a classic ‘homer’ in that respect, all his good games come at home. If he’s been tapped up and can get more money than we’re offering him then fair play to him. If he’s being offered less than some of the wasters in our squad (Siggy for one) then you can’t blame him for being a bit peeved. He should also be on more than the likes of Gueye and Hedges. 2 Quote
Forever Blue Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 Question: Name the current Rovers players who should be earning more than Dolan? Quote

I'd say at the minute Hyam, Travis, Tronstad, Cantwell. Beck if we're including loans. He's an important part of our squad Dolan, he would probably be on the next rung down in terms of pay with Carter, Brittain, Pickering, JRC, Ohashi for me. 2 Quote
Mattyblue Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 (edited) He’s a decent Championship player. Works his arse off, always looking to get involved and makes thing happen. Is he also inconsistent? Make the wrong decisions? Yes, it’s why this is his level. Plenty of Championship clubs will be looking at him in the summer, no wonder he isn’t signing, his agent will be telling him he’d be mad to. Some folk being a bit daft on here saying ‘he’s a League 1 player’ which will be proven next season. Edited December 28, 2024 by Mattyblue 2 Quote
