Who will take the armband today I wonder?

I asked the very same question. I would give it to Holtby or Johnson.

With Del on the left side of the centre back partnership and Ayala in his natural postion on the right side if they both have a good game then Darragh shouldn't walk straight back in the team.

Ideally we have 3 centre backs fighting for the 2 shirts!

Does anyone think there are any benefits on selecting the defenders based on the opponents or it will/should just be down to form?

You should absolutely NOT swap the defence around based on the opposition.

If you have to do that you’ve assembled the wrong defence.

Injured.

Picked up a knock in training

You’ll both be shocked I’m sure but I don’t believe that.

If Lenihan and Evans are not fit enough to make the squad today then no way should either be allowed to go on international duty next week.

Totally disagree.

They should get good game time in their recovery.

Lenihan has had plenty of game time already this season, why risk him aggravating it further. As for Evans until he plays for us he shouldn't be going of to play for Northern Ireland, in the 7 years he's been here he has always prioritised playing for Northern Ireland above playing for Rovers.

Johnson captain today.

Ayala and Nyambe in.

Thank goodness for that; when I heard that Lenihan wasn't playing, I feared that Bennett would be shoe-horned into the first eleven.

Can't say I heard the storms last night but its raining now with not much wind. Ground will cut up easily.

Yes looks like the forecast was a bit out over here too, hardly any wind in West Yorkshire and the rain is quite light too.

Lenihan is a doubt for ROI. Evans not in today's squad.

The Lenihan knock explains why Wharton was pulled out of yesterday's under 23 match v Man U.

I think a settled back 4 is key. Change only when necessary due to injuries or suspension.
