J*B Posted November 7, 2020 Posted November 7, 2020 Wharton can’t pass but this is two games in a row he’s looked a decent defender. Playing well here, we need to capitalise. Buckley playing OK but needs to impose himself on the game if he’s playing the Holtby role. We look much better with Kaminski and Johnson involved. Quote

joey_big_nose Posted November 7, 2020 Posted November 7, 2020 (edited) Fantastic performance so far except for finishing. We seem to have QPR beat across the pitch. The key for me on why we play so well today versus the last few games is : 1) Kaminski lets us play so much higher. He forms a third CB with the defenders going wide when we are in the opposition half. Pears just can't do that and it means the whole 433 doesn't really work as it sits too deep. 2) Rothwell allows us to run from deep so effectively and transition to attack. He covers a lot more ground and uses the ball a lot more effectively than Evans, Johnson and Trybull. 3) QPR haven't done their home work and seem to like to play open and and a high line. Also they don't seem have any special players who can beat out 1 on 1. The absolute key players for me in this system are are Kaminski and Rothwell. Without them we need a different way of playing. USABlue Posted November 7, 2020 Posted November 7, 2020 (edited) Not too bad, Young Wharton doing well,.just a few way way wayward passes. How good is Elliot, wish he was our player. 17 years d damn good un. We have to start finishing. Edited November 7, 2020 by USABlue Quote

Probably not had much in game experience of needing to be good on the ball considering the level he has played at. Encouraging that he looks a good defender though. He only needs to reach a certain level of on the ball ability to be effective at this level which will hopefully develop over time. Quote

Fraserkirky Posted November 7, 2020 Posted November 7, 2020 How good is Joe Rothwell when he is on it. Best player in the team on this form. I love Buckley’s technique, really hope his lack of speed doesn’t stop him being a top player. Armstrong looking dangerous, should have knocked it wide to Brereton when he won the ball in the middle there. Greedy git sometimes. JRC is tough dude, positioning a bit scary at times. Nyambe looks much better today. We will win this. Quote
Exiled_Rover Posted November 7, 2020 Posted November 7, 2020 That shot by Armstrong where the keeper saved it with his feet at the near post - Brereton is all all alone on the penalty spot. Awful vision. 1 Quote

OldEwoodBlue Posted November 7, 2020 Posted November 7, 2020 Some good flashes mainly from Arma and Elliott. Lots of backward and sideways play particularly from Nyambe slowing play and going backwards. Hopefully a better second half. Quote
