Hoochie Bloochie Mama Posted November 15, 2020 Posted November 15, 2020 Synonymous with those great Liverpool sides of the 70's ... and a bit of a legend for most football followers growing up in those days. RIP Quote
Darrenbot Posted November 15, 2020 Posted November 15, 2020 He battled Shilton for years to have the England #1 shirt, what we could do with either of them these days other than the shite we have in that 1 shirt. 5 Quote
windymiller7 Posted November 15, 2020 Posted November 15, 2020 His Liverpool days were just before my time watching football but I remember him playing for Spurs. A definite legend & but for Shilton would've been England's regular No.1. RIP Quote
grinder Posted November 15, 2020 Posted November 15, 2020 For me I always thought he was slightly better than Shilton - more athletic and quicker though Shilts went on too long -lots of You Tube Vids for those that havent seen him About 10s in....RIP no age Quote
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted November 16, 2020 Posted November 16, 2020 (edited) He was miles better than anything we have today. Anybody remember that episode of a programme called " The Big Time " ? It was about a scouse amateur footballer who got to play a half in Tommy Smith's testimonial at Anfield. The other players contrived to win a penalty in front of the Kop for the lad to take. Clemence was in goal and he rained on the lads parade by saving the pen. I thought that was a bit un necessary, it would have been easy to dive out of the way of the ball. I think it was the series were Sheena Easton was discovered as a singer. Edited November 16, 2020 by Tyrone Shoelaces 1 Quote

The guy was called Lol Cottrell, a decent amateur but well out of his depth. Tommy Smith took him under his wing for that programme as i recall. Quote
