StaffordRover Posted January 12, 2021 Posted January 12, 2021 (edited) If the Crewe fans are saying this lad is a good 'un then I believe them, so fingers crossed we are serious and ultimately successful. Done a bit of Crewe research as have had nothing better to do this evening and makes impressive reading. Considering Crewe have only played a total of 8 seasons outside the bottom two tiers in their history, with just two brief visits to the second tier in the late 1990's and early 2000's, they have managed to produce some excellent talent. Players who have either started or developed their careers there include some of the following internationals: Stan Bowles, Bruce Grobelaar, Rob Jones, Geoff Thomas, Danny Murphy, Neil Lennon, Robbie Savage, David Platt, David Vaughan Dele Adebola and Dean Ashton. There are plenty of others who have made an honest career in the Prem/Championship. Blackburn connection: In addition to the two already mentioned Frank Lord, Dave Whelan, Craig Hignett, Ashley Ward and Luke Varney. There may be others but have lost the will to carry this on.... TzuyuShing Posted January 12, 2021 Posted January 12, 2021 I understand how many of us are becoming more cynical now. I, too, cannot think of anything else other than complain because they keep making bad decisions. then again, there are some good highlights. What part of today makes you keep your hopes up? Quote
Paul Mani Posted January 12, 2021 Posted January 12, 2021 I think Pickering has come from left field as it looks like Crewe have had a change of heart and decided (at £500k) to give him away! They must need some cash...Either way they’ve obviously gone back to V’s for more cash and guess what the answer was!? I reckon there’s a good chance this will get done with incentives added. Branthwaite is a Cumbrian lad with links to one of the coaches. Can’t see him wanting to go down to Bournemouth when he can stay at home and play for us. May get decided by who can contribute the most wages. 1 Quote

Tugayisgod Posted January 12, 2021 Posted January 12, 2021 (edited) Stoke City are poised to sign Sheffield United left-back Rhys Norrington-Davies on loan after he was recalled from his loan at Luton. #scfc #sufc #LTFC looks like Stoke have given up on Pickering 🤞 Edited January 12, 2021 by Tugayisgod Quote

rigger Posted January 12, 2021 Posted January 12, 2021 (edited) What is noticeable is that Stoke have looked elsewhere straightaway. We will be hanging on to faint hope till the bitter end, when it will be too late, or we will go for a panic buy/loan. Edited January 12, 2021 by rigger Quote

That could have been a post from three and a half years ago Andy. Instead we are spending time (forlornly as it might be) chasing left backs because the two that Mowbray signed aren't good enough. 9 Quote
JHRover Posted January 12, 2021 Posted January 12, 2021 Oh well, another dollop of free positive publicity and 'proof' we are chasing decent players. Should keep restless fans quiet for the rest of January. 5 Quote

What is noticeable is that there has been a media story about what Stoke are doing, which is not the same thing. It doesn't mean we aren't doing the same, just that no one has either found out or has posted a speculative story. 1 Quote

Still though, that goal away at Bolton in the last minute was class and he flicked in the equaliser at Old Trafford against Chelsea in the FA Cup Semi we should have won. Good memories! Quote
