No wonder he got the run-around by West Ham's Harry Hooper. 😁 Only he and Finney, of course, could trouble Bill. Quote

I remember watching him in a testimonial game at Burnley shortly after he'd retired and although it was only a testimonial he was brilliant and he ran the dingles ragged. I liked the story were he deliberately took it easy against Dave Whelan when Whelan was coming back from a bad leg break. My youngest son got his autograph outside Ewood one Saturday. It was really nice - To XXXXXX, Best Wishes from Tom Finney. Lovely clear handwriting and all done without a trace of ego. He was a real gent. Quote
darrenrover Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 (edited) I have a bit of an update regarding Scott Wharton's injury prognosis: It is a torn achilles as everyone suspected and he's sat awaiting being called for an operation to repair it, which could be as early as tomorrow. Unfortunately the recovery from the injury itself is likely to be 9 months after the operation and additional time will be required to allow hime to return to full match fitness. At best it will be 12 months before he is likely to be available for selection again. Such a shame that a young lad that has just broken into the first team has to endure an injury as serious as that. Sad news. Edited December 11, 2020 by darrenrover Quote
DeeCee Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 He's an asset worth the time and expense, not like the legendary one Quote

philipl Posted December 18, 2020 Posted December 18, 2020 Apparently Williams has a long term injury. Months out. Quote
yellowsubmarine Posted December 18, 2020 Posted December 18, 2020 Running out of center backs. We need another CB at least, in this transfer window. (sounds familiar?) Quote
G Somerset Rover Posted December 18, 2020 Posted December 18, 2020 (edited) It’s just been posted in the Stoke thread but Mowbray has said Williams played against Norwich with an injury and it was ‘his decision’. What a bloody circus. Edited December 18, 2020 by Gavlar Somerset Rover! 1 Quote
darrenrover Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 Update today on Scott Wharton: sadly the lad is out for a minimum of 12 months before he'll be able to kick a ball again. Sad, sad news for a youngster and such a terrible injury. Hopefully he'll fully recover from it to play again. Quote
G Somerset Rover Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 Bloody hell, thought it’d be a while but that’s awful. Gutted for the lad. 6 Quote
Bigdoggsteel Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 It's an awful injury and one people have psychological issues about with regards something touching the Achilles again, even after years. I hope he's the same after this Quote
