Big chance for Buckley tonight. Seriously hope he proves me wrong, but I just don't see a championship footballer there (yet)

I was just going to post the exact same, a few people on here had a go at me for saying that so I’m hoping tonight the lad proves me wrong. I hope he does!

We will see if it's a good call.  If we lose Mowbray should resign

I meant good call as in, that Bigdoggsteel called it that he would start.

Not that its good hes starting!

Yes and Brereton was poor last season and the year before.

Buckley had a bad game against Forest he should never start again?

I never said or even suggested that.

I would have personally selected Downing because he has been far more effective in a Rovers shirt. Buckley more often than not looks a little out of place, I hope as I say that he takes his chance tonight.

He won't

It’s hard for Buckley as he hasn’t really been given a run of consecutive starts. 10-20 minutes here and there won’t help him build momentum. I think he has real potential and could one day cement a place in the team, but at the moment he will have to compete with the many other options we have in that position. Good luck to him tonight.

He needs a chance to show If he can do it.If he isn't going to get a start at home against a team on paper we should comfortably finish ahead of in the table then when would be a good time to give him a chance?

Yes he has looked mostly out of his depth but has shown flashes of real quality, players need more than 10 minutes here and there.Agreed hope he can show something tonight and not let the game pass him by.

What has Downing done since his return, or indeed this calendar year, to warrant selection?

I think Buckley looks an exceptional talent in terms of raw ability but has thus far flattered to deceive. Maybe, like Brereton he needs an extended run of games and not be dropped as soon as he has an indifferent outing.

Out of Downing/Buckley/Trybull/Davenport I think Davenport has looked the most promising recently and I'm surprised he isn't getting more of a chance.

that midfield line up stinks like vindaloo on sunday morning, johnson is`nt fit, buckley is not big enough or good enough and rothwell is all over the place(not a bad thing but his runs forward will leave johnson exposed with buckley wandering around looking lost)quite what davenport has to do to get a game is a mystery,is he injured??

Agree. Midfield looks all wrong to me. Where's the defensive cover apart from the floundering Johnson?

Downing hasnt been given a chance this season, last season he was excellent.

Don't get the blind backing of Buckley. Obviously won't write him off yet but it's clear as day he has been poor this season. Wish him well but don't make excuses or mask it.

Be great to see a performance from him tonight as he is due one.

Strange decision to start Buckley. Has thrived a couple of times against teams a few down and a man down, when he got his chance v Forest he was well out of his depth so he needs to perform today.

Holtby cant argue about being dropped, but I would have gone for Downing in his place who must wonder why he bothered to come back.

If Downing doesn't know his bank manager will be able to tell him.

Regarding the selection - In the immortal words of Graham Taylor - " Do I not like that ! "

Williams back playing for 2 games and already injured. He's becoming as big a waste of time as Evans is.

Every time Williams gets a soft tissue injury he's out for 3 months. Need to get rid at the end of the season. Cannot understand how Mowbray can say he's not looking for a centre back in January. The way he disregards the defence is beyond belief.

He has been poor, but he clearly has ability.

And then you have Lenihan and Ayala who are both prone to missing games. After that it's Carter or Nyambe ! We need Maglorie back ASAP.

Apart from the pass of the season when he put AA clean through. If Elliott did that there would a circle jerk of epic proportions on here.
