Not unless you particularly want to.🙂

Can you share the gist of what he said?

If the reply was intended to be in confidence, no problem.

Tony was my standout choice. His qualities both personally and professionally made him an exceptional candidate. Proven track record of organising teams with and without the ball and bringing defensive rigour to teams.  And as can been seen from his interviews he’s an incredibly passionate guy about football with a huge appetite for improving players.

In the last 12 months we could have had Warnock, McCarthy, Pearson, Cowley, Bowyer, Cook, Ismael, Hughton and others who would all have done better here than Mowbray is/has done.

We have no idea if they would do better. All opinions.

Right now the obvious sensible options are very limited. I'd investigate the Hughes one but would tread carefully given his situation. I'd certainly speak to Alex Neil and think he would be a good option at least for a couple of seasons, but sounds like he is on Aberdeen's hit list. I do think Garry Monk could do a reasonable job and probably better than Mowbray having worked at two crisis clubs recently but I'd also have concerns about the fact he doesn't ever last over a year anywhere. Gary Rowett would be high on my list but would require compensation and a good budget to get him out of Millwall neither of which these owners will cough up. He's got them well above us despite vastly inferior resources and is on a cushy secure number there so would need a much better package to walk out.

Why would Neil go Aberdeen? Talking to PNE on twitter he was saying Alex Neil enjoy living in North West.

Hughes, Neil, Monk and Rowett would be good choices to replace Mowbray.

In terms of the foreign options people like Carvalhal would be viable options if we were prepared to pay to get them and back them. You need to sell these managers the project and offer them the backing to deliver on it, not just baulk at the asking price. If it gets you promoted it is worth the asking price.

Why would Carvalhl leave Braga and European football possibly Champions league football for a team in Championship?

If I were paid what Waggott is I could spend hours and hours scouring German, Eastern European, Serbian, Dutch leagues for up and coming managers worth looking at but I haven't the time or the salary to do that.

Think is where an experience Sporting Director with European contacts would come in useful.

Money? A shot at getting to the PL?

Both of which we can offer more of than Braga, or at least should be able to with billionaire owners determined to get promoted.

Dan Petrescu is another interesting one I'd be looking at. Just noticed he's left his job in Turkey after a short spell so is back on the market. Again would likely cost but vast experience and a good record.

"Proven track record of..........bringing defensive rigour to teams"

Where did it all go wrong?

Do I take it then that the reason why you wrote to Senior in the first place was out of concern to ask why on earth we had appointed Mowbray?

Braga can offer European football and maybe Champions league if they finish top 3? That's better Championship football.

Why Dan Petrescu? He doesn't stay long at his teams he coaching around 1 season every day. What's so appealing about him?

Here are 3 question I ask

1. How come Coyle wasnt sacking sooner? He was clearly out of his depth.

2. Was Tony Mowbray your 1st choice and why? What Qualities did you see in him?

3. Recruitment of players. Do we have a proper recruitment plan in place for the summer? Will you decide who we sign or Both Mowbray and yourself joinly decide? Will money be available?

Managers and footballers go where the jobs are, and these days many don’t even move house, so ‘Neil liking the north west’ means bugger all -

Mowbray lives on Teesside, as have a load of players in recent years. Bradley Johnson commutes from Derby.

Dyche lives in Northants

Benitez managed Newcastle from The Wirral

Gerrard still lives in Liverpool.

A good job is a good job and football people are mercenaries with unstable employment, so plenty will work anywhere.

Proper salesman patter that Senior email but that's what the likes of him are around for. Not their knowledge but their forked tongues and brass necks.

In reality he'll have had very little to do with the appointment of Mowbray other than being told to spin it.

TM was the standout candidate ........ on the HSH list that Madame, Balaji had presented to them by the middleman/chauffer/goffer, oh and director.

Thanks for posting the info.

I recall Senior saying that Mowbray was his first and only call.

Mowbray accepted the position knowing that he had to use the backroom staff already at Ewood, hence the likes of Lowe are still around.

He managed to later manipulate the Venus and Waggott appointments once favour had been curried with Pune.

How he swung his own appointment to full-time on the back of a relegation still mystifies me to this day, but then we do have complete prats as owners.

Senior didn't last long after Mowbray rocked up.

Neil is a significantly better manager than Mowbray, but you do wonder whether he'd want to come here. He won't get the same financial backing Mowbray got - in actuality he'd probably find himself in a similar situation to PNE, having to get buy on freebies and loans as his more desirable players are sold off.

Obviously here it would be due to FFP rather than the owners trying to claw their money back.

That's the problem any new manager is going to face after Mowbray's 4 years on Easy Street.

But he knows where to play his actual players if not his best 11 by his own admission

Bruce is on borrowed time, should’ve been punted weeks ago. We all get wrong info and make mistakes, you backed mowbray for 2 years too long

We'd be keeping an eye on that situation if we had any sense. Another one who won't be out of work long and who specialises in getting teams into promotion contention in this division.

Not pretty or sexy but consistent and it works. No bullsh!t about possession, journeys or pretending to play nice football. Just organised and consistent - gets teams promoted.

Alas it will be someone else who reaps that benefit

Senior left very shortly after  relegation was confirmed at Brentford ... Probably thought Mowbray would follow him , seeing it was he , who got Mowbray  the job...

Wasn't his wife a football agent ??

I don't see Ashley sacking Bruce when he is trying to sell the club.

I dont know what Mowbray has got to do with it but I don't feel it was wrong to back him then or last season. He was again backed this season in terms being allow to make more signings to get us top 6 and he said he had top 6 squad now. He hasn't produce the results and he cant have any excuses in my opinion

Nicky Butt left United today. Always had a solid reputation with developing younger players, a winner as a player, local to the area albeit lacking experience.

Certainly the statement reads like there is something lined up on the horizon...

Also been linked as a potential number two to Roy Keane at Celtic. EDIT: Just seen he’s now odds on for the Preston job.
