Fraserkirky Posted January 16, 2021 Posted January 16, 2021 I thought Bradley Johnson weighed in with the worst half of football by a Centre midfielder in a rovers shirt since Jason Lowe. Seems to have gone unnoticed. He should be nowhere near the starting 11 4 Quote

Who to say it wouldn't be from the same agency again. It's the only possible argument that has any credence whatsoever as to why TM should stay, but I would like it if said argument was accompanied by the acknowledgement that TM is pretty poor. As it is the arguments gets weaker every day as TM continues with error after error, and with absolutely shocking comments, lowering the bar so even the said agency has comparable.candidtates. Quote

I can't remember the last time he had a decent game. I can't barely remember the last time he did anything decent , full stop. He has it in him, he just seems to have faded through maybe exhaustion? Burn out? He looks like he is running through quicksand at times. Surely Trybull or Davenport would be the better option. Quote

Then again John Obi Mikel made it look easy enough. Quote

His last and maybe only really good performance was away at Cardiff last year second half. I think he is an abysmal player at this level and a huge issue. No doubt will be first name on the team sheet on Tuesday. Edited January 16, 2021 by Fraserkirky Quote
Doogs Posted January 16, 2021 Posted January 16, 2021 Blessing in disguise that we cant get on Ewood, and watch this shite week in and week out...I dread to think how many season tickets will be sold in the summer... 1 Quote

Irrelevant from our performances. We sold 2k season tickets and another 2k at best watch online on day pass. Our attendance will stay levels it is unless we go up. Online fans who don’t watch the team yet jump on this message board and social media to demand change, sure that audience will continue to be here. Quote
yankfan Posted January 17, 2021 Posted January 17, 2021 (edited) Post match comments from TM are laughable. Blaming the pitch, sure it’s bad but Stoke seemed to adapt. We had trained there all week so the condition shouldn’t have come as a surprise...Then to talk about the players not being up to it, which is also true, but whose job is it for them to be prepared? Both comments point right at TM. He says he’s like to have 4 million quid to sign players, but has 14 million of strikers on the bench or playing on the wing. Yeah, miserable to watch until last 10 minutes, as per usual for a home game it seems these days. As it seems of late, it’s good we can bring subs on who can improve the side (like Holtby, Davenport) worrying thing is when these players start they don’t produce. (Not Davenport he was good his first start) But squad in general Quote

Personally I judge on the football produced. The two usually go hand in hand. The football we are producing is utter dross and has been for most of the season. First 8 games or so we looked really good. Wheels came off when the games came thick and fast in run up to Christmas. We couldn't sustain a high intensity 433 and the injury list just kept growing. Looking back I would say our big problems were 1) not getting more defenders and signing a decent left back 2) not having a defensive tactical alternative to 433 - say a 343 - we could wheel out against teams who were better than us (Norwich, Watford, Reading) or could nullify us with their own 343 (Bristol City, Stoke). It's a real shame to be sat here only half way through the season with a really decent squad with virtually no prospect of top six. Better defensive planning would have avoided this situation. 4 Quote
Fraserkirky Posted January 17, 2021 Posted January 17, 2021 Holtby and Rothwell need to do so much better for us. Holtby today came off the bench and looked the best player on the pitch, where the hell has that been the last 10 games or so. What is going on? 3 Quote

Popular Post AllRoverAsia Posted January 17, 2021 Popular Post Posted January 17, 2021 (edited) I watched the game in real time and have just re-watched on the iFollow extended highlights. Armstrong was onside, no doubts about that. The ball looked over the line before Elliott passed to Buckley to score. There is a side on camera angle in the highlights. Armstrong was fouled when breaking clear a long way from goal. He's not that good on 1 on 1 so maybe a 20% chance he scores. Kaminsky made a great save, so did the Stoke Keeper. Stoke hit the post. On the Stoke goal as the corner kick comes in Nyambe pushes Johnston forcibly in his back as Johnson is running towards the cross. The result of that odd behaviour is that Johnson is pushed under the cross, Nyambe in anchored to the floor and an unmarked Powell nods in. I have no explanation other than Nyambe is trying to give Johnson leverage to jump and it fails miserably. Johnson was appalling, Branthwaite had an excellent debut, Davenport looks good and should now be a starter, Travis and Dack are way of being match fit but have to play to achieve that, Kaminski had a great save but also got lucky with a low cross he just deflected out into play. Elliott was quiet until he got the (fortunate) assist and gets a pass on making any 50/50 challenges but we can't expect perfection from a young lad. Hes going to play in the PL for someone. Brereton injected energy when he came on, I may criticise him but hell he tries hard. Douglas did reasonably ok. We were crap for 75 minutes and did well to escape with a point. i wish we had someone who could have taken 'care' of Powell and Allen. The Ref and his flag-bearers have never played Football, maybe Netball The Pitch - a leg breaker, like being back in the 70's and earlier. A disgrace on the Club. @roverseas Posted January 17, 2021 Posted January 17, 2021 Absolutely woeful display by Rovers. Out thought and out played by Stoke... AT HOME! The club needs some fresh ideas, and also bare in mind... Stoke didnt have a striker on the pitch! Livid. Swansea on Tuesday will be painful. Quote
Mattyblue Posted January 17, 2021 Posted January 17, 2021 Little dig from Sharpe in his verdict. Though a bit snide if it’s only ever in copy and not held to account in interviews... ‘But of late, neither your eyes or the statistics are offering much comfort to supporters, many who fear that just two league games in 2021 another long run to the finish line awaits.’ 4 Quote
