Don't want to make excuses for Mowbray and his ineptitude but the pitch really does us no favours when trying to play a passing game. 

That said the state of the pitch is entirely on the owners. Another bizarre contradiction - want a manager to play expansive football but only pay for a ploughed field to play on).
