matt83 Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 I thought I knew the “enemies of ewood.” Swag, Venkys, even Mowbray. 12 hours ago I wouldn’t have thought Mark Venus was in the frame at all. Now we have a bloke with form for being the director of a company buying Coventrys training grounds on the cheap and the director of the company developing it. Suddenly we’re selling up to the property developers. Can’t make it up. Put it this way I’d be interested in what his extracurricular are these days. 4 Quote

chaddyrovers Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 Statement in full Blackburn Rovers are looking to the future, with the development of an elite training facility a key facet of the club’s long-term strategy for success. The current training facilities, based at Brockhall Village, were built 30 years ago and, whilst both sites service the basic needs of the senior squad and the young players at the Academy, the club feels that a more modern approach and the introduction of a fully integrated football model would better reflect Rovers’ ambitions. The club is therefore looking at a plan to develop a new coaching structure – to support and accelerate player pathway through the system – and integrate our two training centres into a single, state-of-the-art training base that would bring players, coaches and facilities all under one roof. This enhanced focus on football development and future-proofing the club’s competitiveness in attracting and retaining our best players will provide the club with the best possible platform for future success. The new facility would be built on the site of the current Academy, which will be financially assisted by redeveloping the Senior Training Centre site for new homes and community facilities. The club wishes to make clear that the two pre-planning applications are inextricably linked, meaning the residential development can only go ahead in conjunction with the building of the new training facility on the Academy site. The club have enlisted the support of specialist consultants, who are in the early stages of engaging Ribble Valley Borough Council and the local Parish Council, and have submitted a screening request to inform a future potential planning application. We look forward to sharing details of our upcoming consultation on the proposals, which present an exciting opportunity for the club, and to running an informative and inclusive consultation process. A guy who comes in as coach then gets the role of DOF to go along with that ? That's interesting in itself, wonder if any new companies will be being formed in the near future if this gets the go ahead. Quote
arbitro Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 I wonder how this could affect the Academy status? Surely one of the main criteria for Category One is having separate facilities to develop players. 2 Quote

Land Registry documents show the land is owned by Otium Entertainment and the company secured the site for £360,000 in July 2013. Similar-sized plots of land in the Rugby Borough Council area have been valued at more than £2million when sold off for housing.“ Who owns Brockhall? Who is the buying party going to be? Who represents BRFC in negotiations? Do they have any conflicts of interests? 1 Quote

Mattyblue Posted February 20, 2021 Author Posted February 20, 2021 1) it isn’t ‘30 years old’ the first team were still often training down on the field near my then house at Pleckgate in 1995. Extremely disingenuous, like it’s a bunch of mouldy Portakabins a la Blackpool. 2) ‘New State of the art’, says who? 3) I notice there is no mention of the Academy moving forward or Cat A, merely ‘pathways’, that could mean PNE style scraping of younger teams, ‘B’ teams etc. 6 Quote

There’s also a “we wouldn’t have a club without them” in there 2 Quote
Popular Post chaddyrovers Posted February 20, 2021 Popular Post Posted February 20, 2021 (edited) The club should have release a statement and done interviews with local media to explain what the club wanted to do with the training ground and redeveloping it. They should be open and honest with fan base. Instead we found out through a fan. Simply not good enough from the club. If the plan is put all under one facility then fine. Makes sense. But why is the senior training centre being sold, surely that is where the new training centre should be. So why is academy training ground more suitable? Waggott and club need to explain further what the plans are with digital images of the new training ground and a guarantee that Rovers will maintain our category one status Academy. Waggott and Rovers should have released all the details before the application went in to Ribble valley council. Poor from them. Questions I like to ask 1. cost of redevelopment? 2. how long will it take redevelopment the site for all in one training centre? 3. Where are digital building plans of the new training centre?. 4. Will we retain our category one academy status in the new facility? 5. How many training pitches will each team have? Will we have latest in quality of pitches? 6. What state of the art facilities will be in the new facility? 7. Will fans still have access to watch under 18 games? Edited February 20, 2021 by chaddyrovers 18 Quote

Richard Oakley Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 The plan to scrap the STC only came to light because an eagle-eyed lifelong Rovers supporter spotted the application. The spot was tweeted an reposted on this thread. The club was trying to slip this past fans and perhaps Venkys as well. 8 Quote
tomphil Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 (edited) The real hysteria has only just started people are so easily placated it's no wonder we are locked down. They love firing bullets at those who go to the trouble of scratching below the surfaces. Deal in facts and the scenarios that have played out before not just bluster designed to cover and quell. Statements are just that, the truth is in the deads and the detail so lets see how it plays out. Edited February 20, 2021 by tomphil 3 Quote

Yes, you'd have thought they were chomping at the bit to tell us all.about their plans for a shiney new community centre.... The start of why they bought the club. Bought for 23m, a few of us on here at the time called it. 3 Quote
SamTheShrew Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 Doesn’t ease any concerns here. That is just a reactionary positive spin as the cloaks and daggers application had been discovered. crux is this anyway: actions speak louder than words. the last 10 years have provided enough evidence to show that the powers that be fail miserably on this count, regardless of how they try to spin it. 2 Quote
