I may be wrong but the last "very young lad" to come through Brockhole was Buckley and before that possibly Dunn. All the others - Travis etc - were cast-offs from big city clubs. We've lost good kids in recent times, poached by big clubs such as Liverpool, City, Everton, Leicester etc. What's the point in developing Under 8's when the FA now allows them to travel longer distances for Premier League training? Money talks. Quote

Why do you think teams can pressure us so high up the pitch at will (see Elliott calamity)? Cos they're not worried about Armstrong beating them over the top. Or Brereton or Elliott for that matter - we have no devastating pace. Why do you think teams are happy to drop off and let us pass the ball around in front of them? Cos they're not worried about Armstrong beating anyone in the air. His last goal against Barnsley Quote

We only look threatening on the counter and teams like Reading know that. Of course with that comes the issue that we'd need to defend to a decent standard too 😕 We only look threatening on the counter? Eleven tortoises would get up the pitch faster than us. 2 Quote

Popular Post Stuart Posted March 2, 2021 Popular Post Posted March 2, 2021 Listening to this bloke is the pits. I wonder if he really believes his own crap. A bit of a pearler with “You don’t fluke your way out of this league - maybe once in every ten years that happens” (maybe twice with him and Coyle!) The interviewer saying we don’t have money any more (spent a small fortune in his time) and we’ve had injuries (doesn’t matter if we have everyone fit or not - in fact the more players available the more he rolls that tombola machine). “Working class fans” should be happy with what we’ve got (I.e. Mowbray). They want to see their teams fight and not having fans in the ground us a problem. Doesn’t seem to affect other teams in the same way. Funny none of these talking heads ask, know or care about the fact they are looking to sell off our prized training grounds. One of these feckwits thinks we shouldn’t get rid of Mowbray now as “he’ll keep us up”. Fucking hell! At any other club he would be out. This evening. He sounds like he’s not sure if the hammer will fall or not. But it sounds like he feels close to the end. No wonder the players hearts aren’t in it if nobody knows if he’ll be here by the next game or be given until the end of the season. Frankly it’s embarrassing to think that we have a CEO who can’t or won’t act to end this uncertainty that could destroy this club. Even in the darkest times of Kean I don’t remember feeling this devoid of hope. At least there was a resistance movement, now there is nothing but apathy! 13 Quote

Cos they're not worried about Armstrong beating anyone in the air. We aren't playing quality balls over the top for him. We are playing tippy tappy in the middle all game. If you don't think Armstrong has devastating pace for this level there really isn't a discussion to be had. Teams aren't worried about the second top scorer in the league is a cracker though, I'll give you that. (And yes we know he is no real threat in the air, everyone will agree on that one except TM I'd say) Edited March 2, 2021 by bluebruce Quote

West Yorks Rover Posted March 2, 2021 Posted March 2, 2021 If it's only going to take one more defeat, then it'll be at Millwall on Saturday, they battered Preston tonight, even if the 2-1 scoreline suggests a tight game. Quote
