He has decided to hang up his boots on medical advice following a training-ground accident last April when he suffered a fractured eye socket. There is a full report on the official web site, in which he states that its not possible to continue playing and he praises Rovers for their support. Stig is quoted as saying. "I don't think there's a football club in the world that could have been as supportive as Blackburn Rovers have been. On behalf of all supporters may I wish him all the best for the future.
