Not rated by Wednesday fans, and still available when we're one of the slowest clubs to get moving in the transfer window. Has clogger written all over it - probably get a 4-year deal or something too.

We do need players, so at least its a body but Reach is not somebody that is going to push us up the league. Think id rather just give Chapman a run in the side.

If you read the LET article it explains most severance conditions on contracts includes paying July's wage if the player isn't signed up. Apparently on a high wage at Wednesday so taking that salary for this month.

Has shrewd player that sees football as a job/income rather than a "passion" written all over it...

But the jokes about "reach arounds" and "reach around the back" might just be worth it 🤔🤣

I believe it's the PFA that will pay a player a month's salary if they don't have a contract through July and the previous one ended in June.

Yep, sounds like the bottom of a pretty deep barrel being scraped to me.

The opinion of the parent Club's fans is generally a fairly useful barometer.

Can't see us being particularly any better off if Armstrong goes, the FFP gap is plugged and Mowbray is given free rein to bring in a load more dross to replace the dross we've managed to offload tbh.

What a mess.

He wouldn't get it if he signed a deal on a lesser amount with us in the meantime though.

Spoke to a Wednesday fan about Reach:

“Versatile squad player. Never did anything of note for us other than score a worldie every 6 months. The kind of player where I wouldn’t be massively surprised if he ended up a starter at the bottom end of the premiership in a few years and I’d be equally unsurprised if he ended up a reserve in the bottom end of League one in a few years”

Sounds like a mid table championship level player for a mid table championship side.

Can't understand why we're remotely interested in a player who played 44 times for a side that went down last reason.

Shows our lack of ambition I guess.

Because he played for Boro

Well, either way, hardly looks like he is on any other clubs radar.

Just difficult to get enthused about a player approaching the twilight of his career, not rated by his previous fans, and who was relegated last season. Difficult to get enthused about anything happening at the club right now though, tbh.

Now Barry Bannan, on the other hand. A million release clause, older, but wanted by  clubs including Brentford (bit odd considering their traditional recruitment model). Should be in for him.

If we do sign Reach, he should be played as a left winger, thats where he is best.

Mowbray will play him at centre half then!

He's the kind of player we need. A busy, annoying little sod who gives his all.

There are countless examples of good players who get relegated. Graham with us and Pickford with Sunderland are the two that immediately spring to mind. Wouldn't write off a player just because they got relegated.

Watford had a striker stretchered off last night in a game at Stevenage. I wonder if this will hasten Armstrong's departure.

They had a points deduction and they almost stayed up. Bannan is an excellent player at this level.

Not to mention their manager was absent with Covid for a number of games as well. They had a tough deal. Covid really did decide a lot of the relegation places last year.

And the playoff places too. Apparently we would have made the playoffs if it weren't for COVID...

Watford have Success, Deeney, Percia, King, Joao Pedro, Gray, Fletcher, Dennis, Mebude & Cassidy for striker. Throw Sarr, Sema and a few other "wide forwards" in and their interest in Armstrong is baffling.
