Why would anyone get a season ticket in the Riverside, when it is the same price as other parts of the ground. Also I cannot see us with the numbers attending that will need the Riverside being open. Time will tell whose thoughts are correct. Quote

I personally wouldn’t but I should imagine people have been in their years and are creatures of habit , people have made friends with people around them and have a social aspect to it. I’m sure there are many more reasons I’ve missed 1 Quote

I’m sure there are many more reasons I’ve missed From what I have heard the main reason for choosing the Riverside was financial. I personnally I think the uptake of tickets on the Riverside will be very low. That is why I think the Riverside will eventually be closed. Edited July 9, 2021 by rigger Quote

The supporters who sit in the Riverside do so out of personal choice i.e. friends, family, workmates etc. There is no reason for them, myself included, to want to sit anywhere else in the ground simply because of costs. Based on your reasoning, why do think just the Riverside will be closed, any other section could be closed on that basis. Quote

You mean like the Blackburn end upper, and the home fans in the Darwen end Quote

By the same reasoning, if those friends, family, workmates, aren't there, you would have no reason to stay in the Riverside. Quote

tomphil Posted July 9, 2021 Posted July 9, 2021 The only basis would be the ageing facilities and cost of upkeep versus bottoms on its seats. Every season it remains open in the current climate is a bonus especially with downgrade specialists in charge. Its time will come though. Quote
because of boxing day Posted July 9, 2021 Posted July 9, 2021 As a dedicated habitual Riverside season ticket purchaser i have to say that the view of the other 3 sides of the ground and playing area is superior to any other vantage point where the view includes this dilapidated single storey shack!! 2 Quote

True, plus as much as Rigger and others would like to watch their football from behind the goals, the decision is completely out of the supporters hands and will be decided only by the idiots who are allegedly running our club. 2 Quote

Like last time in the 80's you fear a legitimate reason will surface sooner or later to close it. If we can't spend properly on the pitch or keeping the rest of the ground up to standard i'm sure the Riverside will become a problem sooner or later. The thing actually in its favour is the lack of footfall in there now means less wear and tear and less demand for the facilities. So i reckon it's safe....for now. Quote
Marktheshark8 Posted July 9, 2021 Posted July 9, 2021 Wouldn't sit anywhere else but the Riverside tbh. Prefer the pitch side view, I'm bang opposite jack walkers seats just in front of the pillars. Also no busy concourse to deal with at half time. 3 Quote

Probably has a lot to do with the fact that I’ve pretty much always been in the Riverside, but I think it’s so much better in there. I prefer the side on view and the vantage point you get towards the back. I’m used to the pillars which really aren’t a big deal, I like walking along the front as I go in the ground, I like the seats better. I don’t think cost is the main driver behind why people sit there, but I do think Waggott is banking on your predictions being correct though as he is desperate to shut it down. Quote

gumboots Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 No they won't. They will have bought in good faith. If the club decides to close a stand after selling tickets there, they shouldn't charge extra. When I go to the theatre we always buy the cheapest tickets for seats we are prepared to sit in. If they move us we don't pay extra. If the rest of the theatre is full then we sit in the seats weve chosen gladly Quote

The next step will be to change our club motto to “Bleed those suckers dry” Quote
