Chris Sutton was the best example - played centre back for Norwich originally, then moved up front, the rest is history. 1 Quote

Strangely enough, the full back was called Pickering, made a great success of his new position, was sold to Everton and played for England. 1 Quote

Roverthechimp Posted August 15, 2021 Posted August 15, 2021 Paul Warhurst would be TMs wet dream 🤣 2 Quote

Dion Dublin too. Samba played up front for us, as did Hendry (though Hendry actually started out his career as a striker). 1 Quote

As for Ainsworth, I can think of many managers in the lower leagues with better records, forget the Blackburn link. Ainsworth would be a good shout if we had local owners, the fans could get behind that idea, but under Venkys he’d be eaten alive, no thanks. Many managers in the lower leagues who took a team from the bottom of League 2 to the Championship in a handful of years with one of the lowest budgets in the league each season? Go ahead... 4 Quote

The most annoying part was I typed Hendry and the bloody phone changed it to Henry. I only noticed when I was quoted and went Doh. It even tries to change Doh to dog. OnePlus avoid at all costs haha. Colin as a CF? Really? And apparently that's true, he was a forward before signing for Rovers. Well I never 👍 Quote

I am not comfortable with the idea of regularly changing things because individuals cannot play their game against numerous opponents, it is not conducive to consistency to keep having to take him back out anytime we come up against a more pragmatic opponent. Savile, Keiftenfeld and Evans are all experienced Championship midfielders but all are fairly limited, there is no reason why Buckley should be anonymous against such players. Until he can regularly impact games then he cannot become a player that we can trust to be relied upon with regularity. And the previous game against Swansea Buckley stop Swansea's best player Grimes from being an influence on the game. One of the reasons we won that game 2 Quote

Popular Post tomphil Posted August 15, 2021 Popular Post Posted August 15, 2021 A hard earned and fully deserved point in another game of two halves. First half absolute disjointed rubbish again with big lads wide running around not even looking like footballers. And a lost little boy up front chasing shadows then copping an earful of his manager for some reason. Quite why he persists with that is beyond puzzling and it's now wonder people want change. Millwall had one trick and that was bang it down the right side all day but i thought Rovers defended well. The young lads stood up to everything thrown at them and there was plenty from a bullying home side. Impressed with Pickering who showed more reading of the game in that first half than Bell did in 3 years. Likes a challenge as well and tends to win them, behold a defender who can actually defend ! Ayala was good there is no doubting his calm presence will be vital this season so pray he stays fit. He also didn't look like he was afraid of relaying his frustrations towards the bench. Second half was better and they looked a different team once he abandoned the first half tactics. Their goal finally came out of the blue but they'd been trying that all afternoon so no real shock it paid off. Was impressed the way the team and fans rallied to get back into i thought they were going to cave in. Mowbray got his changes right but there was a 'sort it out' chant in bis direction. Anyone who thinks the whole match going fans are still worshipping him couldn't be more wrong. I got a sense it would've turned yesterday if we'd let another in. Two blokes were having a row about it at half time that looked like it might come to blows. Group of young fans kept trying to get the blue & white army chant going but it rarely caught on. They were getting miffed about it as well. Players are clearly playing for him and following his instructions though and he was quite animated yesterday. He really needs to sop making rods for his own back though with the stupid starting formations. That has held the club back when the squad was stronger and it's easy to see why we have these season ruining death spirals. Good point though in the end and fans were good second half supporting the team. 12 Quote

Combine Warhursts versatility, injury record and that was voted "best dressed" (for real) at the club and we may have witnessed the ultimate bromance between manager and player 😁 Oh yeah - Millwall (just to keep it on topic 🤔) Quote
AaronHolt01 Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 Funniest moment of the match goes to when the Ref gave Millwall a freekick after the goalkeeper was "fouled" by his own player.... 3 Quote

He started out at right back for the first team, played a few games at inside right, got established in the team as a left half, made the centre half position his own when Matt Woods called it a day and later on played successfully as a striker in a crisis. The only positions he didn’t play were on the wing and in goal, if Mowbray had have been managing us then he probably would have got a run out on the wing with him being 6 ft 2 ins tall. Quote
