Trent is capable of playing killer passes with ease. We finally have a de bruyne type player in midfield.  Him rice and Bellingham will walk the euros

He’ll have to get past Wharton first.

It's good d to see an old fashioned tonking of a smaller nation. There was a period a while ago when we'd have laboured to win 2 or 3 nil to these nations, with the likes of Lampard playing like Jason Lowe.

Not that small- North Macedonia knocked Italy out of World Cup Qualification in 2022 and won in Germany two years ago.

Makes Malta losing 4-0 look very respectable.

Also Malta gave Ukraine a much better game than what they gave England

Can play with a cigar in his mouth against minnows in qualifying, problem is against the big teams in major tournaments when it matters when we come up short. Players come through but he keeps getting picked. Going forward, competitive with anyone.

Maguire hasn't put a foot wrong for England in 2 World Cups and a Euro's.

He wasn't worth the money Man U paid for him, but unlike many previous generations his performances improve in an England shirt.

It's hard to deny that he looks comfortable and composed in midfield. I bet Klopp is furious because Trent will likely want to play there for Liverpool.

I reckon that Southgate had a chat with Klopp beforehand.

Klopp moving TAA into midfield coincided with an upturn in Liverpool's form. His defensively frailties are getting worse, Klopp needs midfielders. It's a win win for all.

England have some real talent. Bringing on Grealish and Foden is a luxury prior England managers never had.

Not a clue what our strongest 11 is to be honest - some luxury for Southgate. Walker, Trippier, Trent and James all as RBs, it's just an outrageous squad now.

For the front 6, I'd probably go

Bellingham - Rice - Foden

Rashford - Kane - Saka

Find it hard to imagine we've players good enough to stop Foden getting in the team (I know Pep has played Grealish all season). So Rice holding, Bellingham box to box and Foden advanced creating, allowing us to keep pace out wide with Saka and Rashford.

Trent instead of foden. That  front 6 is unplayable potentially. Though foden Grealish maddison eze is some talent off the bench

Have to agree with @roverandout. Trent was excellent in both games. It'd be interesting to see how he gets on against tougher opposition.

Trent was fantastic in those two games

Not disputing that, but he’s not better than Foden- not by a long stretch.

Foden never lives up to his potential for England.  Foden needs to stick out wide.  Trent just looks made for a midfield role for England

He would if he ever got on the pitch. Southgate seems to fear him and a few other flair players.

Fear? Where do you get that one from?

Foden is a class act but seems the opposite for me; he looks a bit scared playing for England. He has time on his side though.

So they won a game two years ago.

Formidable opponents then.

These qualifications have always been pathetic. If England can't win against these sides by at least four then they shouldn't qualify.
