How many years behind Barnsley does Mowbray think we are. Jesus christ, I remember comments about aspiring to be Brentford, but did he really say it would take 5 years to build to where they were at the time? That's shocking, but the worst part is that it was probably wildly optimistic under current club management. 1 Quote

simongarnerisgod Posted September 18, 2021 Posted September 18, 2021 buckley is to lightweight,he might have ability but thats no good if you keep getting knocked off the ball and then disapear from the game,we can`t keep taking passengers into games imo 3 Quote

They've got their strategy right, with the right people in the.right roles, strong alignment between ownership and management, and very good recruitment. Saying we were five years behind them was about accurate imo at the time. Sadly we are still five years behind despite two years having past. In fact the analogy doesn't really work as given the players who have left and the lack of recruitment it feels we are going further away from the PL, not closer to it. 1 Quote
matt83 Posted September 18, 2021 Posted September 18, 2021 Kean had his champions league we’re not quite there yet as plummeting down the league. Mowbray had 5 years off Brentford. Even our ambitions (such as they are) have been drastically downsized. 2 Quote
tomphil Posted September 18, 2021 Posted September 18, 2021 (edited) Spin nothing more than spin, we have talkers at Ewood not doers. It doesn't matter if you can't do it as long as you can spin about doing it. Edited September 18, 2021 by tomphil 1 Quote

His problem to me is a) being played out of position b) he holds onto the ball too long. He needs to release it quicker sometimes. Quote

With all that sunshine it looked like the Easter game in '86. Then I saw fans were quite well wrapped up! Both games at Barnsley in '86 were 1-1 Edited September 18, 2021 by AllRoverAsia Quote

The ''5 years behind'' lie can only be used if actually building a team. We are not. It a nonsense line anyway - decent owners and managers can turn things around quickly. Just bollocks muttered by Mowbray to push his Journey scam Edited September 18, 2021 by AllRoverAsia 3 Quote
BigBar Posted September 18, 2021 Posted September 18, 2021 Predictable enough team. Would of swapped Buckley for Davenport. Quote
joey_big_nose Posted September 18, 2021 Posted September 18, 2021 (edited) Just remembered Barnsley totally did us with their 343 last year. I guess if it plays out in a similar way we may see Carter come on to match up. Mowbrays picked the team I would have I think. Very nice to have Khrdra and Butterworth to come on. Miller11 Posted September 18, 2021 Author Posted September 18, 2021 Nice to see a back 4 made up exclusively of our own players after relying on loans for ages. Some consistency in that area will help us. Hope to see Butterworth get some minutes again. 2 Quote

SuperBrfc Posted September 18, 2021 Posted September 18, 2021 That's the 11 I was hoping to see. Good to see Poveda back, plus we have two lively attacking options to bring off the bench later on. Let's get after these today, they have hardly pulled up any trees so far this season. COYB. 1 Quote
RevidgeBlue Posted September 18, 2021 Posted September 18, 2021 So Khadra and Butterworth star on Tuesday but don't get the knod. Fairly standard. 3 Quote
tomphil Posted September 18, 2021 Posted September 18, 2021 Don't know if it's just me but i love seeing a settled starting line up built on a decent back 4. Anything could happen today though i have a feeling it could be one of those games. 4 Quote

With 2 of those into the last year of their contracts, and one of those in particular seemingly unlikely to renew, isnt it essentially the same as having loanees? Quote

OsloRover Posted September 18, 2021 Posted September 18, 2021 This may be the first game this season where the bench actually looks half decent. Quote
