So 2 years ago we were 5 years off being able to consider ourselves a Brentford. How many years behind Barnsley does Mowbray think we are.

Jesus christ, I remember comments about aspiring to be Brentford, but did he really say it would take 5 years to build to where they were at the time?

That's shocking, but the worst part is that it was probably wildly optimistic under current club management.

TBF Brentford have done an amazing job. They've got their strategy right, with the right people in the.right roles, strong alignment between ownership and management, and very good recruitment.

Saying we were five years behind them was about accurate imo at the time.

Sadly we are still five years behind despite two years having past. In fact the analogy doesn't really work as given the players who have left and the lack of recruitment it feels we are going further away from the PL, not closer to it.

Kean had his champions league we’re not quite there yet as plummeting down the league. Mowbray had 5 years off Brentford.

Even our ambitions (such as they are) have been drastically downsized.

Spin nothing more than spin, we have talkers at Ewood not doers. It doesn't matter if you can't do it as long as you can spin about doing it.

Yeah you just need a catchy title to roll it up in to fool the masses. Something like ‘the journey’.

buckley is to lightweight,he might have ability but thats no good if you keep getting knocked off the ball and then disapear from the game,we can`t keep taking passengers into games imo

I think he's a lot stronger in possession than he was. His problem to me is a) being played out of position b) he holds onto the ball too long. He needs to release it quicker sometimes.

Dont be fooled by the sunshine Dave ,this was November soon went dark and very very cold !

With all that sunshine it looked like the Easter game in '86.

Then I saw fans were quite well wrapped up!

Both games at Barnsley in '86 were 1-1

The ''5 years behind'' lie can only be used if actually building a team.

We are not.

It a nonsense line anyway - decent owners and managers can turn things around quickly.

Just bollocks muttered by Mowbray to push his Journey scam

Just remembered Barnsley totally did us with their 343 last year. I guess if it plays out in a similar way we may see Carter come on to match up.

Mowbrays picked the team I would have I think.

Very nice to have Khrdra and Butterworth to come on.

Nice to see a back 4 made up exclusively of our own players after relying on loans for ages. Some consistency in that area will help us.

Hope to see Butterworth get some minutes again.

That's the 11 I was hoping to see. Good to see Poveda back, plus we have two lively attacking options to bring off the bench later on. Let's get after these today, they have hardly pulled up any trees so far this season. COYB.

Don't know if it's just me but i love seeing a settled starting line up built on a decent back 4.

Anything could happen today though i have a feeling it could be one of those games.

With 2 of those into the last year of their contracts, and one of those in particular seemingly unlikely to renew, isnt it essentially the same as having loanees?
