How times have changed......

Once upon a time you'd have gone to The Beechwood on Livesey Branch Road straight after the game to tell them they're shit. It always struck me how some of the players got in there before the fans had walked up the hill from the ground.

Givet just said what happened before the game, I don't see it as the same as liking the post of an opponent celebrating a 7-0 win against us

Yeah the two definitely aren’t comparable, we are talking about our own players “liking” a post revelling in a club record home defeat, not our own players seeing the funny side of a 7-0 defeat at one of the best teams in world football at the time after being pumped up like gladiators before the game.

You think Big Sam would stand for it? If he was here now I imagine Dack would have been hauled into his office this morning and given a dressing down. Couldn’t imagine Tony doing that.

The fact that they can’t see what’s wrong with their attitude speaks volumes for the lack of winning mentality at Rovers.

And it all starts at the top the mentality is if you are expected to lose then it's ok.

And worse of all lose by 1 or 7 it doesn't really seem to matter much either way.

Maybe, Anna Friel had a point!

Indeed, although honestly I'd even have a bit of an issue with that statement. The problem with Bennett and Dack saying "it's nothing to do with the result it's just about a former team mate's success, hurr durr" is that the post they were liking was explicitly about Fulham beating Rovers 7-0.

Yeah, I agree DE, I meant more damage limitation if I was advising him.

Whack that statement out and most of us would have begrudgingly shuffled off to get on with our lives, muttering under our breaths.

Instead, what seems to have happened is:

"Oh no, the fans of the club that's paid me millions of pounds and supported me through not 1 but 2 devastating injuries are really mad at me. What should I do?"

"Hmmm, I'm thinking maybe double down on it and call them all idiots that don't understand things."

"Ok, hold my beer!"

most footballers are thick as shit and completely out of touch with reality so it doesn't surprise me, but id still have them both working the tills at the club shop or cleaning the terraces for a week as punishment, then maybe theyd get an incling of what most fans have to do to be able to even just afford to go watch a game

I think what pisses me off about this - aside from the sheer unprofessionalism of it - is how needless it is.

It doesn't take a leap of imagination to think football fans would not be too impressed with their own players liking a post from a 7-0 dribbling. Nor is it a great intellectual feat to think even if it was done without any ill intent that it could be misinterpreted. Btw I think it is unprofessional not innocent but even if somehow you concluded it was ok, it might just cross your mind it could be seen negatively. Anyone with half a brain cell might see it is likely to go badly and not a good thing to do.

Then of course there's the fact that not liking it is going to have zero effect. What would happen if they don't like it? The 7-0 doesn't stand? Their friendship with Reed is over? Reed begins to suffer from depression because he feels unloved? Not only are there negative consequences for posting, there are bigger all negative consequences for not liking it. So why do it???

Honestly footballers are a stupid lot.

Even if he’s just liked it without thinking, the bonkers thing is that he’s then had a go at fans to justify it. Just take the hint surely

If Andy Todd was here then Dack and Butterworth would be on the receiving end of a good hiding.

I wasn’t Robbie Savage’s biggest fan but could you see him putting up with that.

I played with guys who would have had a word with the opposition at 4 or 5 nil. “ You’ve enjoyed yourselves today lads but enough is enough. The game’s over. Any more of it and somebody’s going off on a stretcher “.

That was the first name that came to mind. Speedie too.

Imagine coming face to face with sack, and he said relax you wally. Christ, I'd go for him. Bennett as well, grow up? What an absolute pair of sausages.

They just don't get it because they just don't care.

Can you imagine if Roy Keane was manager and these incidents were brought to his attention? Dack would be getting a call to the office and I imagine he wouldn't be preparing to call anyone a wally. Trying to keep control of his bowels I'd say

This ☝️☝️☝️ is the attitude we need from fans. Fans with any influence (especially monetary) will be those who can make a big difference.
