I thought the Cardiff keeper had done the same as Pears with a long range shot that took a bad bounce for the Rothwell goal, then I saw it again from behind the goal. What a strike, to curl that ball into the far post from that range was tremendous by Rothwell, not ignoring the run either.

Who cares about that, he wants out and he will probably end up at a better club than Reading.

No, I don't read Reading social media....decent championship defender and would be a good signing if we stay down and if we go up then we have a squad player.

We are as well off for centre halves at the moment as I can remember in this division. It’s not a position that needs strengthening in my opinion. Not when there are other positions ( attacking  midfield ) that could really do with reinforcements.

I agree. He's decided to leave a 30k plus contract....either he's mad, or chances are he found another club who will commit to a multi year deal probably not on 30k though.....I just thought he's worth a look

To be fair, all strikers usually hit a barren spell.  This may well be his.  

If he only scores 5 between now and the end of the season, it's still been a great season from the lad.  As long as he keeps working hard for the team. 

Up to others to step up now.  Gallagher really needs to start justifying his contract.

This will never happen. I know fans want to cling to some hope he comes good but at some point we need to embrace reality. He is a poor player and should not be part of any playoff push. Mowbray is too stubborn to admit he got one wrong but ever time he plays he looks like a donkey. I am hoping Markanday might be the player to finally relegate Gallagher to a last minute sub.

Not sure if Markanday is the one. Think he is more like Rheda / Poveda. We do need a focal point as an option, who can hold the ball up. Was well impressed with Adebayo at Luton Yesterday, but probably too expensive now. Big unit with good movement, held the ball up well and looked dangerous throughout. Bournemouth struggled defensivly especially when Luton bypassed their midfield.

Adebayo would be a brilliant signing, would be a huge showing of genuine intent and ambition from the owners. 

No doubt a decent fee, but you would have the collateral of a Brereton summer sale. He would give us a huge boost for our push and could just be Brereton's replacement if we don't go up. Perhaps pie in the sky.

Individuals aside, we do really need a second out and out striker. We have such a reliance for goals on Brereton, as any team tends to on a prolific goalscorer, but if he goes a couple without a goal which will happen or is absent which again will happen, it isn't easy to see many other goals. Even if we sign Markanday, we don't know how quickly he will transition to mens football, and even if he does, if Brereton is unavailable then 2 from Markanday/Khadra/Dolan wouldn't be the best balance, and Gallagher is not very good.

To be honest with the transformation of Brereton I hesitate to write anyone off now.

Think it’s the ‘Brereton syndrome’ kicking in again, in that there always seems to have to be a scape goat for people to have a go at.

Personally thought Gallaghers physical presence up front helped us yesterday, held the ball up well and gave the defence some breathing space. 
Could have also  won us a penalty as well

Would love for us to go and buy Adebayo. It would be a real boost to our promotion dreams. He'd score a lot and take the pressure off Diaze whilst helping retain the ball at the opposition end.

Not happening though, they'll put a silly fee on him. Unless we have some money spare from Armstrong and we get rid of Gallagher but we've just given him a new contract.

Or you could look at it as, a tried and trusted system, throughout all levels of football.

I don't understand why it has to be put down to "scapegoating" when a player is criticised. Brereton has been criticised in the past because he didn't play very well.

I thought that yesterday was a perfect example of probably Gallagher's biggest weaknesses, which led to our defence having to weather even more pressure. When Gallagher received the ball, he tended to struggle to hold it up and when a counter attacking chance came about, 3 or 4 times his choice and execution of pass was really poor and a chance to get a second was wasted, and Cardiff had the chance to attack with a couple of our players up the field.
